RUNNAWAYICEBERG
Newark just needs 12.5" more to beat 78.4" from 1995-1996. I think they got a shot. i agree...some mets have been saying an active mar. i think we are seeing some of their thoughts now. tonite + 2 threats in 10 days. Guest Pamela
What a MASSIVE difference at JFK and NYC. 20.2"?!?! Whoa. As I've often said, it seems to have trouble snowing at Idlewild... more shocking might be that they trail nearby Newark by 25.3"...that's just wrong. Sundog
What a MASSIVE difference at JFK and NYC. 20.2"?!?! Whoa. That's because it's BS. So is the LGA total to an extent, but they've done much better this year compared to past years.

RUNNAWAYICEBERG
i like these small events that at times tend to overperform in spots. but what i like more is the active quick hitters. last nite, tonite who cares bring the rain fri. let it rinse off some of the nasty on our streets. then next week, hopefully!! ag3
I'm 2 miles from LGA and I have 57.55". I'm also 2-3 miles from Central Park. LGA is off by 3"-5" as they under-reported boxing day blizzard by a few inches; as they always do during any windy snowfall.
Zelocita Weather
1008 lows always manage to push out 1050 highs when they want to cut through the lakes Funny how the 'screw zone' for both these impulses advertised for 3-4 days on the models will probably hold up in C NJ. Somerset, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, N Ocean only look to get between a dusting and 2" between the two events. Where areas to the north and south get 3-7". Guest Pamela
Season to Date Snowfall (Through This Afternoon) Islip: 53.2" I'd say the Islip observer is on target this winter. The airport is in a fairly bad spot for snow (relatively speaking) compared to a good percentage of the Island...maybe three miles north of the South Shore....I'm nine miles to their NNE with an extra 72 feet of elevation and am only 5.0 inches ahead of them on the winter. "I Liiiiiive!!!" Yeah we can't complain too much, CNJ has been hitting the jackpot recently. Last winter I recorded 72" in Monmouth Co and 55.5" so far this winter, 2 year average in the 60s - that's remarkable and over 200% of our yearly normal. TheTrials
LOL, if you took away all the models and looked at the WV and the radar you would think a nice storm was coming. Point about the PV. The lower dews and the clearing skies was the low pressure departing. Already skies are filling back in. Yes, the PV north of the border looms large, but its certainly not squashing the flow yet as the vort over the midwest continues to pump ample mid and high level moisture into the area and the SE Ridge is holding firm. Probably means nothing, but hey, you never know.

The dew pt. up here has dropped to 16 a few hours ago and has held, I see your at 17. Still overcast with a light ne wind. Going to be a squeeze play later. OKX has us up here with a low of 9 with a light north wind. Hope you get into some of that fun from round two.

It would be nice if the damn thing turned the corner and became a coastal to hit all of us; its annoying because it looks like it might be the last bonafide threat for awhile. Who knows though, the last storm was originally progged to be a cutter and look what happened. Its a very fluid and changeable pattern and models dont catch onto it until within about 48 hours-- which has pretty much been the case all winter lol. Oh well, stings a bit as snow is getting harder to come by since february 2 And where he is in Monmouth county has done a lot better than Middlesex county. I know I didn't get anywhere near 72 inches here last winter. We've been the screwzone. Just to our southeast (Jersey shore) has gotten more, as well as just a few miles to the north where earthlight is. Somerset-Middlesex hasn't done as well as surrounding areas in recent winters. But even with that, we've obviously still had well above normal snowfall, so can't complain too much. It sure would be nice to get the jackpot for once here in north-central Jersey, though. It's hard to complain this year considering we're at 50", but everyone else in this thread seems to be breaking 60". Areas just to my north got 7" from this past storm, whereas we only got 1". Areas just to my east got 30" from the Boxing Day Blizzard, whereas we "only" got 18". Still an epic winter so I stress that I can't complain, but we all know how frustrating it is to sit 15 miles north or south of where they're getting ripped on. Snowlovers that live 5 miles south of major lake-effect bands must be getting anurisms.
