ORH_wxman
I feel like the GFS tends to be too far south on most SW flow events? Didn't we see this trend a lot in 08-09 when the Euro was consistently further north, and the GFS eventually caved? GFS has actually been pretty good in SWFE inside of 72h....it was the NAM that was traditionally too far S. Though I do recall it busting pretty good in the 1/28/09 event...it had it as all snow here about 60 hours out and it ends up as snow to sleet to ice system...with sleet getting well up into CNE. Probably what its doing here except just a warmer version of that system.
BDR
Parkbenchboy- You are much smarter than all us grownups here. It's frustrating for you that the men you are attempting to engage in battle here are dimwitted to such an extent that they are unable to see the full spectrum of all your brilliance. As an adult with a big heart I sense a need in you. A need for a manly explanation on how to behave around mature strangers. So let me explain this for you. Shut up. Vim Toot This is just great! GFS is probably on its way to its worst storm of the season inside 3 days...at least that is the way I'm leaning. This... not so much.

Didn't we see this trend a lot in 08-09 when the Euro was consistently further north, and the GFS eventually caved? GFS tends to be too suppressed in general particularly when there is cold lurking. Classic case was the Jan 2005 blizzard which GFS had 1-3 for BOS until the final 24 hours. Euro had a blizzard for days.

Clinch Leatherwood
GFS is probably on its way to its worst storm of the season inside 3 days...at least that is the way I'm leaning. Im a little surprised but figured it would be the 12z Wednesday that draws us lines. I don't know what the problem this year is but it seems like we have gone two ways this year....a model outlier holds on to 48-60 hrs before folding or an outlier is joined at 48-60. Bad winter for modeling. As you say astounding on this one.
