Going forward into March

It could be prolonged if we got the sfc reflection tracking over SE MA...there's always issues though when the airmass is marginal without a source to replenish it readily availble as the sfc low approaches.

Usually marginal ice events are tough to forecast and not well seen by models until inside of 36h. It could end up as a 34F rain.

This could lead up to some ice jamming if the QPF is heavy enough.:(

In other news...good to see that the ever-incompetent Henry Margusity will be starting his new gig with yet another embarrasment of a forecast. His first write up and accompanying map since "replacing" JB is leaning 100% on the GFS His map actually has the northern extent of the snow in MASS and the southern extend in Philly...nice job henry..looking like you rin good shape with that call. Every area in his "potential snow zone" will get over an inch...of rain!

I read the entire thread since my last post 13+ hours ago.

Some thoughts: This cold wimped out in a hurry...late season sun ftw.....among the biggest short term MOS busts in my memory....had me with a high of mid 20s at BOS and I believe 37 was the number. Like radiating March nights, it's dropping quickly.

Like many a March storm, this next one may well look like 45* rain until the last minute. As long as it's cold aloft, BL cold quickly. If the low cuts under us, many of us will get 6+. I'm personally thinking this one may be a lost cause but I need 3.6 in Ray's BY. Otherwise I believe we'd be even.

The long sunny days do stir up thoughts of warmer times....things growing.....scantily clad coeds parading all over town...it's not so bad. But for now, we have a solid period of possibilities. I think we do have the chance of this pattern farting itself into oblivion much to all of our disappointment. But until then...long....live....winter!!!!

:weenie:

Some pretty foolish comments about 60s, spring warmth when referring to this run, heavy rain for sure in SNE but let's calm down. It's a 40s cold rain with winds off of a 34degree ocean.

Ahh I said it in jest shoulda put the arrowheadsmiley.png in. But I could easily see the cape and islands come close to 60 as the low passes over my head.

And that 72 hr little finger of snow is still snow - actually looked at the soundings for giggles and it's still nice and saturated.

One thing that's kind of good with rain at least in this area. The little event yesterday brought out a ridiculous dump of salt on sidwalks. Rain will wash it away thankfully. Hopefully we replenish the pack but let's face it, the best days of it are behind us. Quite a run it was. But that doesn't mean we can't get some wonderful snow dumps over the next 3-6 weeks.

self awareness, in the male human, doesn't tend to emerge until around 30. Until then we tend to thrash around with little ability to stop, step back, and reflect.

congratulations...seems like your almost ready to stop thrashing too...so, when is your special day?

i think your holding you own ....tonite.

lets get this thing trending cooler ..

lame

so a new guy comes on makes a funny post about a guy that posts irresponsible forecasts

then should get 5 posted for sticking up for his self. the thought police ?

He's actually made several crappy posts before tonight...but nothing worthy of a 5-post. But regardless, its not productive either to be saying who and who shouldn't be 5 posted in our threads.
