40/70 Benchmark
Below Below Thanks guys. It's been brutal. My kids are usually healthy but for about 10 days now they've alternated being sick with both having a high fever about 50% of the time. I've got friends that have had it and I guess it's just a virus but it's nasty. Somehow the wife and I have dodged it...now that I've said it I'll wake up with a brain melting 105 degree fever. Nothing brings a family to its knees faster than a bunch of lost nights to sick kids. I'm sure people get sick in Florida and California too but these days make me long to live someplace where the windows can be open year round. -- The problem with this next system is even with a January track there's so much warm air out front it won't matter for most south of CNE. It's going to take a continued shift SE. The 3/1 event looks okay for those north of the Pike but I'm not holding my breath as there isn't anything to hold that one south. Exactly....this is what I was trying to convey to Jerry, but I was met with some resistance...
HoarfrostHubb
Worrying about having enough snow to make Frosty or watching him melt the next day is so trivial in the scheme of life. Snow is just frozen water in an array of ice crystal formations that are just part of nature. Snow causes so much excitement and pandemonium as if turd balls were falling from the sky. Think about it. Gee, I never thought about it that way. Now that you have enlightened me I can spend my time worrying about when the Sun expands out to the orbit of Mercury and we roast... Tornadoes are also part of nature, as is the ebola virus. Go skiing and get happy, man
ski MRG
Timing...saw this after the fact. Thanks. This bug going around down here in the lowlands (joking) has been nasty. Bunch of friends have ended up getting IV's for fluid loss and it's not from puking/etc...it's just prolonged high fever and lack of fluid intake. We're diligent about giving them lots of fluids but heck my 2 year old has been sick for 9 days now. This is two years running for us that this vacation was a cluster....last year we lost a ski trip to it. Glad this year I had the hunch and didn't make a plan. Hoping to get one day in with the oldest midweek, and then we've got a BIG trip the following week(end). That's how I know it'll snow up north on 3/1.... 8/-5, To cold and snowy for viruses to survive up here. It's the constant threat of Polar Bear attacks we worry about. Clinch Leatherwood
Exactly....this is what I was trying to convey to Jerry, but I was met with some resistance... GGEM stayed around the same...track is probably off NJ then over the SE MA area. Thankfully I think the torches into toronto solutions are out of the picture. 8/-5, To cold and snowy for viruses to survive up here. It's the constant threat of Polar Bear attacks we worry about. Now you're getting the humor! Noticed Sunday River dropped 30 trails post torch...glades I suspect. Considering Bretton Woods and Cannon next week...thoughts? H2Otown_WX
Ahem...... Precisely the argument many of us gave. Some DID figure that part out. Lol, alright I guess you guys did call that. I'm not going to lie, I thought you two and ski MRG were going to be way wrong but I give you kudos for sticking to your guns. Turned out you made a damn good LR forecast. Clinch Leatherwood
Well it looks like we diddle dick around with these next few events....late week could go either way but favors CNE/NNE for now, then about a week from now some over-running type events that look a little confused before we suddenly get into something potentially very good around 3/5 thru 3/8 that could deliver the goods. High to the north, some blocking, lows moving through....that'll be winters big stand.

Clinch Leatherwood
Yep Ray and more than anything I'm in wait and see mode for another 36 hours for the reasons Rick mentions...some are still going south. After careful deliberation and being woken up by hollering kids for 5 straight nights with sickeness of various types I'm heading into the basement to find a pair of vice grip pliars, hammer, chisel, sawsal and some duct tape to complete my own vasectomy this evening. Good night....

40/70 Benchmark
EURO back to the N....passes just N of Concord, NH-portland, ME lol Almost as far N as last night's 00z. No ice threat on this run.....maybe elevated valleys in GC, like Pete......but it would be brief.

Logan11
It may well be right, but I lost my extreme respect for the Euro this winter. It's only somewhat better than the others now since they tweaked it or whatever they did. On a number of occasions it has bowed down. It's a fairly small window though in actuality. A s/w that is still off the west coast...the models range from ACK to CON..... EURO back to the N....passes just N of Concord, NH-portland, ME lol Almost as far N as last night's 00z. jconsor
What evidence of blocking are you seeing in the 3/5 to 3/8 range? I don't see any clear signs of blocking yet in the pattern and guidance. Damage In Tolland
Come on man...enough...of course he was talking about "his winter" being over. As has everyone who has been saying thet Feb has been a dissapointment in terms of snow fall. You live in the freaking Berkshires...so of course you have seen more snow over the past few weeks that just about every other part of the state...as you do every year. We all get it. You have enjoyed this month and it has been cold with average snowfall...FOR YOU! Why do you apply what everyone is saying about thier towns and parts of the state as if they are saying that SKI MRG has been dissapointing? Do you intentionally misinterpret people saying that "Eastern mass best winter is behind them" with them telling you to cease your enjoyment of winter activies? because that is your reply everytime. Someone on the coastal plain with zero elevation will comment about a snowless period and you reply with " I don't know what your talking about...it's still winter out here." comment when you are 200 miles west and 2000 feet up in an entirely different climate...come on of course its been different Dude..most of SNe has had 20+ inches of snow in Feb which is above normal..There's been continuous deep snowcover all month..and the month is below normal temp wise. It has been a cold and a snowy month. Put that in your buoy and float away
