A hair more amped than 18z but still a lot of snow for much of SNE - if nothing else it sure as hell has been consistent with giving us a nice snow storm, I'm still just as skeptical as everyone else...

I think the next two days will bring a meeting in the middle...GFS and Euro will call a truce and it will be a mix of sleet, snow and rain for most...

GFS has been consistent, but I still say toss it with the ENS nw and the UK and EC shaking hands.

NAM is amped but more E. UKMET met looks more west extrap. These systems are very difficult but you know fully well that SWFEs can tap into that lurking cold. If hts can stay lower as the cold air presses, a GFS solution is certainly plausible..

Just watched all 4 Boston weather reports, two say rain and two say some snow/mix, one said several inches possible north and west of Boston.

Ray, I hope your wrong but you've been right more often than not.

The UK was way north on this last one. I remember NCEP saying discount it and they were right.

Who said what? Or a better question, what did Harvey say? He's most likely got the best idea.

It's not set in place....it's trying to drive in as the system approaches, but the flow out ahead of it stops it.

I've had a good season from a forecasting standpoint, but as soon as you think you have improved, ma nature humbles you.

We'll see, but I'm pretty confident.....others who bring alot to the table like Jerry and Messenger are thinking south, so well see....

I'm not sure how much it'll matter in terms of temps. A compromise is in order, the Euro/UK are probably too far NW, GFS may be a bit SE....net effect may not matter much to most of SNE aside of the Massachusetts Rockies up through VT/NH/ME where they could still do quite well.

I think the EURO is too far nw, but it's likely closer to reality than the GFS...JMHO.

I'm not very invested in this system either way as it's moot for me. That and the fact that I've got a sick 2 year old with a 102 fever. While trying to negotiate the taking of a childrens tylenol just now she just said "whatever dad" as I explained the benefits.

God/Buddah/Allah/Al Gore please save me now.

Euro is a mixed bag and the GFS is a fringe up here

Come on man...enough...of course he was talking about "his winter" being over. As has everyone who has been saying thet Feb has been a dissapointment in terms of snow fall. You live in the freaking Berkshires...so of course you have seen more snow over the past few weeks that just about every other part of the state...as you do every year. We all get it. You have enjoyed this month and it has been cold with average snowfall...FOR YOU! Why do you apply what everyone is saying about thier towns and parts of the state as if they are saying that SKI MRG has been dissapointing? Do you intentionally misinterpret people saying that "Eastern mass best winter is behind them" with them telling you to cease your enjoyment of winter activies? because that is your reply everytime. Someone on the coastal plain with zero elevation will comment about a snowless period and you reply with " I don't know what your talking about...it's still winter out here." comment when you are 200 miles west and 2000 feet up in an entirely different climate...come on of course its been different

Do you live at the buoy or is it just a favorite place? Of your 17 posts how many have been whiney or complaining? Seems like all of them but I'm sure a few have been obs.

Worrying about having enough snow to make Frosty or watching him melt the next day is so trivial in the scheme of life. Snow is just frozen water in an array of ice crystal formations that are just part of nature. Snow causes so much excitement and pandemonium as if turd balls were falling from the sky. Think about it.

Sorry to hear about the sick Tot. Always is a drag, you want to trade places but can't. It's been my experience that they kick the bugs pretty fast. Hopefully by tomorrow afternoon she'll be running around with a smile.

Thanks guys. It's been brutal. My kids are usually healthy but for about 10 days now they've alternated being sick with both having a high fever about 50% of the time. I've got friends that have had it and I guess it's just a virus but it's nasty. Somehow the wife and I have dodged it...now that I've said it I'll wake up with a brain melting 105 degree fever. :) Nothing brings a family to its knees faster than a bunch of lost nights to sick kids. I'm sure people get sick in Florida and California too but these days make me long to live someplace where the windows can be open year round.

--

The problem with this next system is even with a January track there's so much warm air out front it won't matter for most south of CNE. It's going to take a continued shift SE.

The 3/1 event looks okay for those north of the Pike but I'm not holding my breath as there isn't anything to hold that one south.

Timing...saw this after the fact. Thanks.

This bug going around down here in the lowlands (joking) has been nasty. Bunch of friends have ended up getting IV's for fluid loss and it's not from puking/etc...it's just prolonged high fever and lack of fluid intake. We're diligent about giving them lots of fluids but heck my 2 year old has been sick for 9 days now. This is two years running for us that this vacation was a cluster....last year we lost a ski trip to it. Glad this year I had the hunch and didn't make a plan. Hoping to get one day in with the oldest midweek, and then we've got a BIG trip the following week(end). That's how I know it'll snow up north on 3/1.... :)
