baroclinic_instability
Two more. Sorry if these images are huge guys--I hope your browsers resize the images like they do mine. That is across the street. Not more than 100 feet and the vis is already greatly reduced. Amazing for straight snow to reduce it like that. Hoping for some TSSN within the next two hours. Chicago WX
Forecast soundings indicate a pretty straight changeover from rain to snow, though I guess a very brief period of sleet can't be ruled out or even zr if surface temps drop faster than expected. Yeah looked at it myself. Seems to be a pretty clean rain to snow scenario to me. We'll see.

Thank goodness the next one is looking like a good ole texas hooker B track. Easy to follow and understand. yeah its getting to be a bit of an old story lol

Powerball
RGEM like the NAM is a hair colder than its 12z run. I'm pretty confident now we'll at least see a half foot, the epic snow should be starting in the next couple of hours.
Cyrys
Convection continues to develop south of Mankato heading straight for the MSP metro. Quite the range in the point forecast through the end of the storm for additional 9-19" beginning this afternoon(3?).The north metro and points further north are at last getting into some better rates. No freezing. Its just collecting on the roads due to the slush. When it drops below freezing an inch of rain on the roads will be fun.
