snowstormcanuck
Gotta love how most of the qpf dies right at the Mich-Ont border. You're still in line for a pretty decent snowstorm Alan.
mnchaser
one narrow band of moderate to heavy snow sitting over us right now. Love it when that happens Same over here in Mankato, We have been in 35+ dbz snow bands for a good 2.5 hours..Heard a few distant rumbles around 7:45 or so. Pushing 3.5 inches already, and adding on to that fast. Dry slot kinda worries me, but it seems to be filling in now.
daddylonglegs
Looking at the GFS, looks like it cut the totals again here on the 6z.... Prairie Du Chien is 35F while LSE is 27F...

snowstormcanuck
RUC seems like it's going to be way too far north with its axis of heaviest snowfall. You can already tell that the dry air is impeding the northward progress over MN.
Torontonian
Final call for YYZ: 2" Hope someone slits the throat of this winter. Yesterday the vibe was 4-6 inches around here.... now 2 inches? EC is still going 4 inch and TWN 3-6. This is a strange system can't think of any similar analog. The winter of overperforming clippers and failed synoptic snows here.

This is a strange system can't think of any similar analog. The winter of overperforming clippers and failed synoptic snows here. Yesterday I was thinking more than 6". Trends are not encouraging. I think the early Jan 2004 non-storm is a good analog. At least in the sense that you should never underestimate the power of arctic high pressure to the north. Irony is that 48 hours ago I was all over the suppression scenario but some of the mets made me reconsider. Should have stuck with my gut.
Powerball
Then as a bonus we get an additional 0.40" with the second wave (4-6+"?).

Lets wait and see what the rest of the 12z suites do with the second wave. I am still skeptical with it. I think it will be too far east of here

I barely made it home from work in my car with the 4 inches that was piled up on the roads.. my tires suck. lol Good thing I didn't wait another 2 hours. That little narrow band which is still stubbornly hanging over the town of Brookings is our saving grace until that void fills in. Probably give us a an inch or two more then most of the rest of the area at this rate. Just went and measured 5 inches. Tapering off a bit now as that band moves a bit north. Still looks like it's organizing off to the west.

mnchaser
Did you lose most of your snowcover in the recent warmup? We lost probably a good foot of it last week, before today we had around 6 inches left on the ground still. Would have been quite the sight if we would have kept piling it on and it didn't melt. Powerball
The 12z NAM has an insane precipitation type gradient in Detroit. It goes from 10" and no ice at Detroit City Airport (in the city proper) to 2-3" at Detroit Metro Ariport (25 miles SW of the city) with 0.60" of ice. Stevo6899
GFS looks weaker. Looks like the euro is the king again for being further south and weak (so far). BTW the snowfall map for the 12z NAM looks similar to the RUC kab posted an hour ago. DTX snowfall NAM

daddylonglegs
Money- Haven't been outside, but the areas that were grass are now covered. My brother just tried to go ice fishing, but they got to the boat landing and the river was wide open (they had a picker boat)... I told him he was nuts to go out in this.
