CoastalWx
Didn't Will post that 00z Euro looked better than the 12z run did..esp for CT and RI? Yeah it was juicier in those areas, but as a whole it was better for sne too.
Damage In Tolland
Yeah it was juicier in those areas, but as a whole it was better for sne too. Yeah that 's the way to go..I think the meso models are getting a little too PV happy. You guys should be fine
cpickett79
i think the lack of anywhere in SNE having HPC > 4 snow fall % is a bit misleading. it's partially due to the cut off from day one being about half way thru the precip event....so the 4+ % would extend ESE from where the cut off is day 1 at 12z monday....it's just those are are sort of caught between times so that 2 inches falls on day 1 and then 2 inches falls on day 2. if they had a graphic for an event total (and not by day/time period) SNE would def be in the 4+ band especially WEST C ct. but the current forecast is clear from them in the sense that they like (regarding SNE) the idea that confluence will have a dominating result on the snowfall accum map in the sense that an area from about pittsfield mass ESE toward MRG LAND and then over to say blackstone, ma then cutting more SE toward seekonk mass and say westport,mass....if that is your northern line of decent probs for 4+ inches and then go west along the s coast of SNE back to fairfield county ct....and then within that it would seem litchfield county is best shot at seeing 6+. Clinch Leatherwood
Nam looks like shi: for anyone outside of ct for the most part unless 1-3" is your thing. This didn't trend north that's for sure and the best dynamics have been hit to our south for most of the last two days. Ct does pretty well and maybe part of ri, for the rest of us this is a bleh
cpickett79
Yeah it was juicier in those areas, but as a whole it was better for sne too. pretty much matches up with this i think anyone has to lean S of the pike for best snows on this one. could it tick N sure....bet on it ....nah. CoastalWx
Yeah that 's the way to go..I think the meso models are getting a little too PV happy. You guys should be fine I'm going to wait for the rest of the runs, to see what's up. I'm well aware of past experiences with these lows, but the difference here, is the PV. It wants to break some of the rules that we apply to these types of events. I don't think it makes a huge difference for CT, but further to the northeast it will have a big say in the outcome. You guys should be fine fine for what? you think bos sees totals as high as CT? it's pretty much a resounding no from almost all forecasts. fine in the sense it will snow? ya well ...i mean i'm just trying to convey that as you go east/ NE in SNE it looks like less and less. Damage In Tolland
I wonder if we can actually get that 2nd low to come far enough north..The PV shifts up to Nova Scotia as soon as wave one comes by..something to watch
Benchmarkbuoy
The fact that Boston will see 1-2 inches should come as no surprise. The fact that it is coming as a surpirse is becuase many people here were latching onto the 1 model run a day that brought 3-6 inches to the area. Everyday there was one outlier while many of the ensmebles hinting at exactly what the PV is going to do...shear this as it moves east. A few mets said last Tuesday that after these two waves, there would be more new snow on the ground in DC thani n Boston...unfortunatelty...looks like that will be the case. the way things are trending this morning I would gladly sign up for 1-2 inches because if this continues we may end up with nothing at all. cpickett79
12z nam awful N of pike ....it actually shifted s for everyone. 48 hr forecast looks like early feb 10' with the confluence screwing most of SNE outside of people SW ct and S shore. remember that confluence gents. i do think there is room for NYC/SW ct to get a nice suprise from 2'nd wave but NE of there not so much ...unless SPV position changes markedly. i'm gonna keep tellin myself 12z nam is a burp run ....cause it could be. mahk_webstah
Yeah...and to think..I was crucified three days ago for talking about how the next 10 days would pan out because I did not cite any evidence. The evidence is about to present itself. Like I said days ago... 1. this first piece of energy would weaken considerably and get sheard to the point that its totals form the midwest would be halved at least. I said this first event would bring 1-2 inches. 2. Everybody was on here claming how we need to give the second piece of energy time to come north because "that has been the trend" well...that storm will bring snow about as far north as Cape Map NJ...guess that stayed soulth like I said as well. 3. I then went on to talk about the lat week major warm up with a drenching lakes cutter and I was called "stupid" and told that "my time allowed to participate on this forum would be short" Well, late week looks like it get to near 50 in some places with 18 hours of rain and two days of well above normal temps. As I have said...on this board, withough a meteorology degree, you will get crucified for predicing anything but "big winter" . but if you call for heavy snow and cold...do not worry...no evidence or weather background necessary...just say it over and over and slap a few emoticons on there and you will be fine...may not come true...as it will be seen this week..but you will never b e called "stupid" or a "troll." I am going to see how I fare on these three events and then take it from there. You were crucified also because of your attitude. Here is a suggested re-entry strategy if you hope to be a contributing member of this board. I even wrote it for you: Hey guys, I'd like give my thoughts on these upcoming events. But first let me start with an apology. I came into the dialogue on this board rather abruptly with a condescending post and a strong opinion with no scientific explanation. I was really caustic and antagonistic and that was a mistake since I was coming onto a board filled with a lot of great and knowledgeable people who have created their own way of doing things. You guys slapped me down and I deserved it. Thanks for not banning me. Double my bad given that the board was created and maintained by some of the people in this very thread! These folks do this for no charge, just for the pleasure of this great hobby! Man was I a dxxk! ski MRG
Berkshire, Stratton and Magic have all been good no complaints. Have not gotten up to Central Vt. Wildcat, Bretton Woods, Sunday River were just ok - when I was there. but to be fair that was all within the same week. Today is a local cc/bc day for me. Skiing has been great across NNE, Jay,MRG, Stowe etc. have all had over 200" and I have had numerous powder days. A blockbuster season, no not yet, but the season is far from over. Just ask Scott(powderfreak) if it's been bad.lol Get out and ski it up.

Once spring and summer comes around, you have much more freedom to present thoughts that were not well discussed. It's (by far) when the most freedom comes with presenting ideas and not being flamed for it. Most people here are extremely winter orientated and not balanced as to which wx they prefer, you'll know who to ignore completely and the ones who insult ( you'll see them come out too) they are generally just unhappy types.
