Just a quick update for snowfall potential thought via SmartModel, been running it hourly for the last 4 hours now. Here is a breakdown that I have as of 19Z: Full list can be viewed at http://smartwxmodel.net. Going to spin up some more cities to pin down a bullseye area.

LaCrosse: 15-18"

Minneapolis: 14"

Oshkosh: 15"

Milwaukee: 9" and .3" of FZRA

Rochester: 11" and .5" of FZRA

Madison: 7" and .7" of FZRA.

thats cool, thanks for sharing.

You guys over in Milwaukee be sure to stay off your motorcycles tomorrow :scooter:

Nice day today... lot of people grilling... i think a lot of people don't even realize the historic event about to take place here... probably the biggest snowstorm of our era :arrowhead::arrowhead:

Do you have any gut feeling that this pulls some sneaky warm air up to you? 18z nam cobb shows .68" fzra after 6.6" of snow. Flip back to snow and end up at like 13" total for storm.

local met sayin most recent models points towards more snow here 6-10" not buying that for a second.

Chicago storm just told me MKE is real close to all snow on the euro.. just miles could make a difference though and any warmer and me and the wife are skating on the grass he said. Not sure what that translate back your way. I'd def rather be in northern mke county.

Actually that was for timmerman airport he just updated.. mke airport... mke is likely front end freezing rain, then all snow. still pretty close to all snow though,so all is not lost.. a 2 degree change at 850mb could mean skating..

sorry for pasting what you told me, Joey - lol.

blizzard warnings here... looking good! Father lives in central Ozaukee county WI looks like they may get some too.

Sunday Night nt_snow.gif Windy with snow. Blowing snow. Snow accumulation of 3 to 4 inches. Total snow accumulation 13 to 14 inches. Lows around 8 above. North winds 20 to 30 mph decreasing to 15 to 25 mph after midnight. Gusts around 40 mph.

Kinda shocked about how dead it is in here. In 24 hours a major winter storm is raging across region.Where is everyone?:arrowhead:

As others have alluded to, the region with the highest midwest member density (S. MI/S. WI/IL/IN/OH) will have mixing issues/rain, so it's not as big of a deal for them.

If everyone in the aforementioned areas were getting a foot this thread would explode with people.

Curious as to an ice storm warning call versus winter storm warning. Looking at the ice storm warnings out towards northwestern Nebraska, it appears they are calling for about .25 of ice. It seems we could see that somewhere in southern WI or even northern IL, but we are all with the wsw. Might the reason be the additional snow forecast here, with both the front end thump and then the wrap up?

After the big one on Groundhog Day, it just doesn't seem the same with this, even though there are some significant numbers possible. Just talked to the in-laws in Bloomington, MN. They are ready to rock.

Much of the rest of the family is skiing this weekend up at Boyne Mountain in Michigan. They have good snow-making temps up there, but it seems this system will largely skirt south of them. They'll see the highest effects on the drive back down to the Chicago area on Monday.

BTW Bowme, us ILANOY'ans are ready to trailer north of the border. I just finished up redoing a recoil assembly and am now good to go. Haven't shelled the $35 for a WI pass yet, although we did ride up through Walworth and then over to Lake Geneva on a 100 mile loop a week ago. Trails were a dream that night, but we kept it civil, as we try to do. Sorry for the BS from other riders. There are a lot of different types out there for sure. This storm, even though late in the season, may be the one to justify supporting you guys with some dough.

On the weather front, it's clear and cold here now. The ground had softened with the sun this afternoon, but is now crusting back up. Should be a fun night watching this come in.

Still cheering for you guys up north to get a big snow out of this and not too much fzra. I'm hoping the ice stays north of me and am transitioning to spring mode around here. Ya, we'll get more snow, but March 1 is meteorological spring and this coming end of week storm is looking good for svr in lower Mississippi and Ohio valleys if Euro verifies.
