Measured 11.5" when I got home. Cleared the board, shoveled, roof-raked, noticed the fluffy aggregates coming down and measured an additional 0.5" as I packed it in for the night. So an even 12.0" so far.

32" at the stake. Had to walk in the yard to shovel the deck and had a hell of a time with the walking part ... snow was up to my hips.

Wish I had a camera on the drive home as it looked like a white paint bomb exploded. Trees totally pasted. Of course, the wind picked up and knocked all of the snow down but at least I was able to enjoy it for a little while.

Wow congrats to all you guys especially you Eric FIYAHHHHHH

Awesome! I thought your house would do well given the radar this am. 32 eh? Is that the peak of the season?

Yes, it is. The highest I can remember it being was 25". I'd like to eclipse the stake height, which is 36", but would need an overperformer with the clipper. How'd you do? I think I read 10.5" or something to that effect? AWT ... those GYX totals this morning were too light. Ek had the right call yesterday pm.

really like that sref for our little sunday special... .25 precip line touches here and over to the east.... gotta think the ratios should be pretty good with it...

I haven't had the time to look at it, but the banter in the clippah thread is saying it looks good for areas north of the Mass Pike, despite Kev's delirious ramblings. I guess we'll see ... happy to hear there's lots of guidance in our corner.

I made the pilgrimage to MRG today. I'd say 8-10 fell from lift open to close. It started out pretty hard underneath, but by 11 it was silky and by 3 it was knee deep turns in the stashes and the whole mountain was in play.

If you've always wanted a good day to go, be there very early tomorrow for winter snow and maybe a bluebird. I did my best to rip the place up, but man that place refuses to be ripped up by a weekday crowd.

Innumerable sick lines left out there; I'll be rippin' em in my dreams tonight.

Seriously tempted to drive all the way back

I would guess we got about 7 or 8 inches here but the wind had picked up by the time I got home to measure. the drifting had started and didn't have it in me to go up into the back yard to where the sky is open but there is a bit of a shelter from the wind. I will try to get a measurement in the morning for total on the ground.

Me too, exactly 12

Double digits for many ... AWT. Your 14" high end was spot on.

Double digits FTW, haha. 10" here. Really didn't think it would happen after the 00z/06z models went south. Lots of 8-12" reports around this area... saw BTV over 9" which is always a solid number for the Champlain Valley.

Still snowing, upslope is closing this one out with some fat, wind blown dendrites. I thought strong winds were supposed to shatter dendrites? Apparently not.

Event totals: 9.6” Snow/0.51” L.E.

Friday 2/25/2011 6:00 P.M. update: E and the boys are off this week, so we headed up to Bolton this afternoon once the powder built up to do a bit of storm day skiing. When we first arrived at around 1:00 P.M. the snowfall was moderate and the flakes were fairly small, but flake size and snowfall intensity picked up through the afternoon. I did a few depth checks around the mountain, finding generally 10-13 inches of new powder in the 1,500’ – 2,500’ range, and when the mountain made their evening update, they were reporting a 12-inch storm total at that point. We’ve picked up a bit of additional snow this evening so the mountain will probably end up with a little over a foot in the end. It wasn’t an outrageously deep storm by any means, but the snow was reasonably blower, coming in at around 5 to 6% H2O based on my analyses down in the valley. Unfortunately, the snow was dry enough that it meant the skiing wasn’t completely bottomless; but as the day went on it was getting pretty close even on the steepest terrain if one had untracked snow. I added a couple shots from the day below:

25FEB11C.jpg

25FEB11D.jpg

25FEB11E.jpg

Down at the house we picked up 3.3 additional inches of snow in the 12:00 P.M. to 6:00 P.M. timeframe. The density was up just a touch from what fell this morning, but it was still quite light. We’ve had an additional 0.9 inches this evening, so with that it looks like we’ll end up between 10 and 11 inches for a storm total here. That’s really quite close in terms of what BTV was forecasting. Another update has been made to the Storm Total Snow Forecast map, which bumped totals back up a bit in the north. I’ve added it below:

25FEB11B.jpg

Some details from the 6:00 P.M. observations are below:

New Snow: 3.3 inches

New Liquid: 0.19 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 17.4

Snow Density: 5.8% H2O

Temperature: 25.5 F

Sky: Snow (1-4 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 28.0 inches

Some pics from town around 11:30am... only had 4" or so at the point of these pictures (ended up with 10-11") but it was snowing pretty hard.

Snow growth was optimal and ratios had to be very good. J.Spin's numbers of 20:1 snow seemed about right for this one.

Photos were taken on my way into work before noon.

Out the car window... flake size was optimal. You wouldn't even know that Vermont's highest peak is dead ahead of you over the trees across the field.

Deep winter creekbed.

Going to go with a total of 9" here. That is not very accurate though as I didn't get a chance to measure much during the storm and the wind really moved things around. Bangor reports 11.2" so I suspect my total may have been more.

Is it me or is the cutter for Monday / Tuesday trending more and more towards the coast? The 6Z NAM almost looks good.

Event totals: 10.5” Snow/0.54” L.E.

Saturday 2/26/2011 6:00 A.M. update: Our snowfall was complete by midnight last night, so the 0.9 additional inches we picked up will mark the last accumulation for this event, and I’ve added those observations below. Up above us, Bolton came in with a storm total of 16”, and I’ve added 24-hour/storm totals below for some of the Vermont resorts that have reported in so far; the list is north to south:

Jay Peak: 9”

Burke: 12”

Smuggler’s Notch: 10”

Stowe: 13”

Bolton Valley: 16”

Mad River Glen: 9”

Sugarbush: 10”

Pico: 14”

Killington: 14”

Magic Mountain: 14”

Stratton: 15”

Mount Snow: 14”

Totals were a bit up and down north to south, although it looks like there was a pretty steady 14-15” of accumulation in the southern half of the state. The Bolton/Stowe area seemed to have similar totals, presumably with less liquid equivalent and higher snow to water ratios.

Some details from the 12:00 A.M. Waterbury observations are below:

New Snow: 0.9 inches

New Liquid: 0.03 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 30.0

Snow Density: 3.3% H2O

Temperature: 23.7 F

Sky: Flurries

Snow at the stake: 28.5 inches

OK, most of you guys did a lot better than here but I'm still satisfied with the event: 7.8" new snow, 0.71" liquid. I'm surprised to see the liquid content given my snow total. Based on the consistency of the snow, I would have thought that I was doing better than 11:1 but that's how it rolls, I guess.

Back up to 29" at the stake and now at 85.5" for the season. Less than 15" to go, baby.

peaches and apples! fantastic peaches, although they lose them every few years when the temps dip below -16. Great people with a farm and ice cream stand.

Yeah, it's tough to grow peaches around here--sheltered spots help as do some of the more cold tolerant cultivars but still tough.

I grew up working on a large commercial apple orchard, studied horticulture/botany in college and have a side-gig pruning fruit trees for clients. I always feel at home out in the orchard. :)

11.25

It was strange....zones 8-12 +1 in the am. changed to 6-10 +1 during the day. Meanwhile point n click had 10-14 +1-2.

All great info. I'd add that spotters (who I trust) in the high peaks measured 14 inches above 2500 feet with possibly 18 (non-winddrifted) along NE facing slopes of the High Peaks. Not sure what WF is reporting but it doesn't matter. They never get as much as the real HPs do.

Looks likely. GYX says 1-4 in the AFD and my point has a 2-6 spread. Feast. I need to finish off the snow removal from yesterday's storm today.

Another 2-4 will be an impressive snow depth. I want to make sure I get some pictures tomorrow because I think that will be it for the winter, we are heading on a downward spiral.

Got a little more to do today myself. We have some city-slickers coming for dinner tonight who aren't used to....well, conditions as such. Better clean it up nice! They've only got a little Hyundai for a rig too. We'll see how they do on our road/driveway. I'd better leave the truck up-top in case I have to pull them out, lol.

Started out the day under blue skies...clouded over very quickly.
