Allenson
6.5" now and the temp is coming back down--28F after getting up to 30F. Been nice to be home for this. I've been managing snow removal today like Tito does the pitching staff. Boone, NC. 3333' elev. Yeah, they cut hay at close to 4000' in parts of NC. Fun facts to fool your friends! dendrite
Slant sticker I just got in and haven't even looked at totals. That's an event sample too...so 6am-4pm. There was ~8" of heavy cement at the Concord/Pembroke border when I left there at 3pm. Branches were caked in snow and hanging on power lines. Around exit 18 on I93 north you could tell it was getting colder based on the deciduous trees not having as much snow sticking to their branches. dendrite
Just took a core sample...looks like 9:1 which makes sense with a juicy warm system aloft. 10hr sample... 10.5" new snow 1.18" water equiv Looks like CON has come in with 1.06" liquid, but it makes sense that I would measure more with a core sample over a gauge with a bit of undercatch. Baroclinic Zone
Snow here was a lot fluffier, not wet at all. 10" looks about right. I have no way to measure though.
dendrite
Nice dude. It's really scenic out there. I just missed an accident on I93 N by about 30 seconds....Meekholes flying north to go skiing going 60mph in the fast lane. It's too bad that for me to "win" you guys have to get a rain/slopfest in SNE. It's too bad we couldn't rack up the 1/12's where you guys get the 10:1 and I make up for it with the monster deform band. I guess we all win some and lose some though. Come Tuesday this will all be a memory.

Well IZG has had a similar temp to here today. I don't have a "wet" snow, but due to the thermal profile in the snow growth region we just can't do better than 9-10:1. IZG may be a little better though. Most of the flakes I analyzed here were heavily rimed.

One of these days, I'll get a place by the Lake or in the Whites. I love both areas. My folks were looking at a place in Guilford.

hvysnow79
Good for you, man. 7" here now & seemingly the last batch rolling through. Breeze is up too, gettin' blust'ry. Winds have certainly picked up here as well as the band moved in currently, snow picked up back up in intensity as well, still coming down moderately at the moment as the temp has dropped to 27F. Another 1/2" from the band puts us right around 9" for the event.
dendrite
Snowing VERY WELL from the ULL... How much so far? Can you tell yet how well the snow growth/fluff is? If you go out and let the flakes fall on your sleeve do you get mostly well structured dendrites or are there irregular/plate crystals?
