+SN since 11:30 in AUG, est. 2" new. My 1/4mile sight range is gone, 1/8 mile dim but visible. Flake size still small, but better than earlier. Wunderground radar showed some intense echoes 40-45 dbz, just offshore from PWM but movement is kinda parallel to land.

Like the updated map, MBY increased 3" to 9" - we'll see.

12:15 measurement of 7.25. 1.25 last hour.

Snowing very hard with much larger flakes now. really close to taint line. radar looks awesome for Jeff and Eric. Eric you must be getting rocked both in Portland and at your house.

Wow, 7.25 in your hood? Nice! I just went to the top of the parking garage and measured 3". Wind was ripping pretty good up there.

Looking at the radar I'm shocked you don't have more. My snowfall rate has decreased a bit and become variable. Have to see how part 2 of the storm sets up. Don't know if this is the kind of storm where we get a pivot, backbuilding and some deformation. Almost 8 inches now. I bet you have 5+ at your house.

I was just thinking that. He works right next to downtown on the ocean though. I have a feeling it is a lot wetter there.

I was surprised too, but my measurements were taken on concrete that may be treated so that could have an effect. Plus, as mentioned, it's pretty windy up there. I will say that it's been coming down very well ever since I got here at 8. I notice some heavier echoes on the radar just to the south ... wondering if that's where the taint is.

Still +SN in AUG, but not quite as "+" - can very dimly see the 1/4 mile marker. Probably got 1.5" last hr, near 3" total. The line between 25 dbz with occ 30, and 15-20 dbz, lies between here and MBY, so the home front is probably getting only 1/2-2/3 the rates I'm seeing in AUG. Airport temp down to 29 at noon; folks who've been out in it say the snow is wet, but it's not sticking to hardwood branches at all, thus power loss shouldn't be an issue unless someone goes off the road and takes out a pole..

Getting pounded..... leaving for northfield vt.... worst road condititions ive ever drivin in.

Good luck. The Northfield exit on I-89 is close to the highest point in VT somewhere between 1700' and 1800'. Not surprisingly that area is often the worst section. Check out the Brookfield VTRANS web cam. You must be headed to Norwich University. It's about 20 minutes from work and home for me.

Event totals: 6.3” Snow/0.32” L.E.

Friday 2/25/2011 12:00 P.M. update: Burlington had accumulated about 4 inches or so when I left sometime after 11:00 A.M., and here at the house I found 6.3 inches at noontime. It wasn’t even snowing when I left the house this morning around 6:45 A.M., so the snow has been coming down at over an inch an hour on average. The snow to liquid ratio certainly isn’t low here, coming in at almost 20 to 1 for this round of accumulation. The flakes are very big, some up to 20 mm in diameter, so that is obviously helping with the ratios. The snow seems to be continuing at a steady pace of about an inch per hour.

Some details from the 12:00 P.M. observations are below:

New Snow: 6.3 inches

New Liquid: 0.32 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 19.7

Snow Density: 5.1% H2O

Temperature: 31.5 F

Sky: Snow (5-20 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 25.5 inches

Ha-ha, that Brookfield area on 89 is notorious--but no need to tell you Mreaves. ;)

Lightening up some here for now but it looks like there's a surge or two out across New York headed this way. Pushing 5" so far.

Just did a plow beforehand, I was a bit concerned about the icey underlayment on the road as far as truck traction goes. Yeah, I slid a little bit but so far, so good. And, the icey stuff on the road surface made peeling this snow up a snap. A beautiful wave of snow sloughed and shed from the plow blade.

Up to 30F now.

Happy driving sbos_wx! :scooter:
