SmokeEater
Over 7 hours of archived live radio coverage from Louisville, as tornadoes raked the area. Amazing listening, especially in the 1st part, where an NWS met at the office, just about gets hit by a tornado. http://www.lkyradio....hecks.htm#1970s

That was crazy hearing the NWS guy hitting the deck.
louwxman
I had forgotten about that site. What great memories. It is hard to believe that tornado outbreak was 37 years ago. I remember it well.
SDF_Wx
Good old John Burke who was the MIC at the time was the one on the phone. He was looking out the window and saw the tornado touch down in the parking lot on the north side of the airport and then headed northeast. I think the WFO had a gust to 80 as the circulation envelope went by. Very good site and the audio is pristine with some 70s commercials as well as a few songs. Lots of folks here in the office love the way he says "tornada" instead of "tornado". They really had some good lead time on that tornado since the supercell was coming out of Brandenburg and the state police were giving them good updates as it went through Meade County. I believe the city had a good 35-45 minutes of lead time. SDF_Wx
