That's a very large shift from the RUC compared to this morning... it barely had NWOH in 4" or so... now it's showing 6"+

Rapid Refresh/HRRR did much better.

Is this the RR you were referring to? Looks fairly similar. Precip gradient looks a little sharper, and oriented more NW to SE

Yeah. I'm glad that's supposed to replace the RUC this August... which is why I follow it more consistently. Of course it's nice to see 4 different Rapid Update models (HRRR, RR, RUC, and Backup RUC) running at once.

I will admit the HRRR and RR were pretty warm with it's 12-3am runs with 850s freezing line running up the MI/OH border at 18z... but they got the precip field a heck of a lot better then the OP RUC did at that time.

AppsRunner,

Are you from Walbridge or Lake Township?

Wow. I'll feel a lot better about those totals once I see the snow start to fall. Nothing yet. Northerly winds should actually help the lakeshore.

Congrats down south. Impressive total if the RUC verifies.

The RUC is generally good about not going oveboard. A slight shift either direction will be huge. The CLE AFD offers little insight. Seeing as the radar is making little inroads for NE OH, I'm inclined to think 4" is a good bet, and as a region the largest snowstorm of the season.

getting heavy sleet with snow mixing in. ping ping. lol. Big flakes mixing in. Should only be a matter of time before I change over. had the rain went to zr went to sleet now big flakes mixing in. problem is, when the heavier stuff moves through it goes back to zr. So it never fully switches over. Hate change overs. It's like it's hard to go from rain to snow, but easy to go from snow to rain.

Unreal. Snow is coming down nicely in Chagrin Falls now. Nice flake size. We need the winds to come around more Northerly to add some lake moisture

Pretty much nothing downtown attm. Yesterday Detroit had 10" today Medina will get 8" and nothing in between. :lmao:

Snow has tapered off now. My call of 1-2" may be too high.

Yeah, we have been in nothing short of the snow hole this year. Don't forget some parts of Erie county PA had over 12" yesterday.

Quickly approaching 4.5-5" here now... Snow has been unreal the last 5 hours or so... about 4.5" in 5.5 hours. Still have some heavy snow here... and there's a long way to go too.

sounds a lot like how it went here today. tapering off now with 6" since 12:30'ish. some incredible rates, it was awesome. maybe a little more overnight.
