OHweather
This is beginning to turn into a potentially bad icing situation here. Have been seeing freezing rain with temps hovering right at freezing since about 6:00pm with a few periods of heavy sleet mixing in. Have seen a few flashes of lightning as well. Have seen a little over a tenth of an inch of accretion on trees/power lines and the trees are bending some. There are reports over some scattered power outages in the northern portions of Solon, which is on the southeast side of Cuyahoga county. Right now temperatures are slowly creeping back down and we are sitting at 31.8 here. A nice band of light to moderate rain setting up over head. If temps are cold enough these slightly lighter rain rates might allow the ice to accrete better and a few more hours of these .05-.1" per hour ZR rates may put enough on the trees to start bringing them down, especially if the winds pick up a little bit tomorrow. dilly84
I thought the models suck lol. They do. They may have been good for you up there, but for here they have flopped back and forth for 3 days. Sorry but it is ridiculous. I'm not confident in getting any snow yet. Happy they are showing it, but I'm not confident in it.

They are going to completely whiff on this one.0 Oh, I'm sorry. Watches for the ridges? Isnt it a tad late for a watch?? Shouldn't a warning or advisory go up considering it is going to start snowing in 24 hours? The rgem, nam, euro, and gfs all show at least advisory level snow....they are by far the worst nws office...didn't even update their afd to include massive changes on the 18z runs or 00z runs. Paweatherguy1
6z Nam gives pit 8" I know...it is mind blowing to me that the office is just ignoring this...kunv is doing just as bad. They have a 230 afd, and it says the second wave will miss pa south...where do they see that? Then you read altoona's text forecast, and they have 4-8 for tonight, but no advisory or warning??? Stebo
Until 10am today...no mention of tonight in that advisory. Yeah they are going to wait til that one expires and issue another one for the 2nd event as they are 2 separate events and would need 2 separate advisories

Also, read their afd...it makes barely any mention of the second wave tonight. I understand you Want to concentrate on the first event, but you dont ignore the second one IMO. Trent
This turned into an unbelievable ice storm here. We've had 1.30+ of liquid equivalent that has pretty much all fallen as sleet and ZR. Quite a thick accretion on the trees and with the wind, that classic eerie crackling is ever present. Certainly was not expecting it to be such a severe ice storm. This is probably the most ice i've seen around here. Wasn't expecting this at all. I thought I would wake up to temps in the 40's and rain. Did it ever go above freezing? It's back to snow now but the damage has been. Hopefully the winds don't get too strong today.
TheWeatherPimp
Temperatures already running much colder here than forecast, as the cold/stationary front slid south of here several hours ago and we are already down to 31. NWS just through up a winter weather advisory here, after originally issuing it for the counties North of us.
Trent
No power on my street. About .5-.75" of glaze. This winter can suck it. So close to a massive snow storm and so close to a rainstorm. Now I'm stuck with ice for a week.

I think it was the RUC yesterday that showed the heaviest snow over the lake... it probably verified. It was nice having a driveway clear of ice for a week. Now there's a good 1.5 of solid ice back on it Branches are dropping all over the place. Still have power in the office though. The ice doesn't seem to be as thick in Chagrin as it does just north of here. Think we are going to see a few inches from round 2? Moisture is streaming back north to the west of here. Looks like we will be right on the line again. Let's hope the northern trend we've seen with every storm come through this time.

Nothing exciting as usual, but enough to creep the seasonal total upward. Tonight's light snow will just be more misery on a another fringe winter. I will admit it was nice seeing a snow free drive and lawn for a few days. Hopefully this ice melts off quickly, but it's quite thick.
OHweather
Only about a quarter inch of glaze here, only a few limbs down here and there so it sounds like down here we escaped the worst of the ice. Looks like we'll see 2-4" in the Cleveland area with round two later today into tonight with some moderate bursts certainly possible, which is better than nothing I guess. Looks like the whole column is below freezing and will stay that way so we should be done with the ice. On a side note, after adding yesterdays 1" of snow/sleet my seasonal snowfall is sitting at 99.6".
dilly84
We were supposed to hover around 37 today but temps dropping we are down to 33. Could be in for a surprise.
dilly84
Wow one county directly to my west (nws cle) has an advisory for 4-10" and no advisory here 15 miles east(nws pit) why isn't pit mentioning anything?

AppsRunner
Currently expecting about 4-6" here... already a light snowfall again. Roads are going to be downright awful if the ice we had is covered over by this.
Trent
Ruc shows a good 4-5" over N Ohio with a blob of 6" over Columbiana County.
wxdudemike
I'm thinking 1-3 inches at best for Columbus with a light glaze of ice possible too if we don't get cold upstairs fast enough for snow.
dilly84
I guess nws pit, twc, accuwx don't buy the models in OH from this. All talking about southwest pa, with no mention of here.
