A-L-E-X
from the iPhone http://yfrog.com/h3j5jmykj I love the contrast, it says 69 in the foreground and youve a picture of a snowy landscape in the background.
A-L-E-X
Newark and Linden just hit 70, LGA and NYC are at 67 and JFK is at 63. NYC is within one degree of their record from 1981 and JFK already broke theirs by 6 degrees from the same year. Dont know about the records from the other locations. Really great contrast with the 69 temp in the foreground lol.
A-L-E-X
49 degrees here with a breeze off the ocean. Looks like its dropping, because it was 52 the last time I checked. There's a vigorous coastal front somewhere between there and here, my temp is still going up lol. Do you remember last April 7th, when it was in the upper 80s here and I think it was in the upper 60s there?

Just not going to make it to those upper 60's-70 in Cliffside Park low-mid 60's and that's it, but a bit warmer outside my office in Jersey City, perhaps just under 70 here. I admit I was wrong to think 60+ was avoidable so sue me.
tmagan
1000 - 500 mb thicknesses on the NAM between 18Z and 06Z forecasted to drop 20 decameters, fairly impressive.

If you keep snow pack through this, I suspect youll have snowpack through April (like 2004 or 2005). Actually 2003 and 2006 also had snowpacks in April, but that was because snow actually fell in April. The snowpack in 2004 and 2005 was more of a constant presence because of the cold/snowy March. A-L-E-X
Alex, or to an extreme case, May like in 1977; but that is an extreme one. Was there continuous snowcover that winter? I know it was very cold, but I thought that winter broke in February and we just had that one rogue event in early May that hit NYC with thundersnow (but no accumulation.) Oh, do you remember we were talking about March 1956 last night? Do you think that was our latest 20" snowstorm? That would make it our latest HECS. I think Philly had a 19" snowstorm in April 1910, so I guess its not impossible for us to have an HECS in April, but for our area, I think March 1956 was the latest HECS. We haven't kept snowpack here beyond about St Patricks day in a good year in my experience (patches and quick melting one-off snowfalls don't count). If it happens this year it will be a first for me. 1993-94 might have been a better year for continuous (and possibly late) snowcover, but I was on the south shore that winter and we were sipping pina coladas by the pool all winter I had snowcover through about 3/17 in 1978 as well (north shore, but not here) Not sure if you saw this: http://www.americanw...post__p__478107

Yes, March 1956 is our last HECS for the tri-state area. So, it certaintly can happen, espeically when the Nina is weakening like now. Philly had the HECS in April 1915 with 19.4" In 1915, the highest total was 21.2" in Burlington County, NJ. I thinl.
