ski MRG
Wow, just had a brief squall followed by the strongest wind yet. Peru just had a gust over 50 mph. It's absolutely screaming out there.

Tropopause_Fold
FWIW the euro kept all critical thicknesses well to your south, over ACK. I only looked at 925 and 850 temps This morning...overall looked chilly. Wind is howling. Edit...holy crap steve tree top breakers right now
OKpowdah
2/22/08 had a confluence 5h low to our north but it wasn't a pv...more like a shortwave. But I'd be surprised if it didn't come north. Juicy systems off to our west love to bump the heights up a little more than models want to give them credit for. The s/w to the north was on the south side of a larger vortex over eastern Canada, and it was actually in the process of being sheared out by the time the SWF s/w was working through the Ohio Valley. Other thing is that the SWF disturbance was already more mature than this one. It had a neutral tilt whereas this one is progged with a very positive tilt through the Midwest, and as a result is more prone to being sheared to pieces. Also the 08 storm had more of a feed from the Gulf, across the SE states. In fact the storm was associated with some severe weather over Florida and Georgia. The associated latent heat release was our mechanism to pump up ridging ahead of the storm. We don't have that this time.

Well like I said, I still think most of NH (and SNE) gets in on a light to moderate snowfall. 3-6" for most with a couple pockets of 8" in MA

moneypitmike
Just took out the trash and it looks like I had a main stem branch on one of my "keeper" trees snap. A 50-year old maple, so decent size. Guess it's an 'overhead' hazard until it drops. I really don't want to have to take it down. During my hike, I took stock of my upcoming cutting tasks. In the fall I had marked all the ones I was definitely taking down. There are about 20 of differing sizes. I'll do that as soon as the snow melts. If I need to take this other one down, I'll be bummed.

ski MRG
Did you cut your hair?? lol. Not part of the plan. Don't want to lose my MoJo. The wind is so strong right now it's a little freaky. I can't imagine what would happen if we ever had a landfalling hurricane with 100mph winds. I'm going to have to let Wiz know we have multiple branches down. I often wonder what makes grown men decide to have long hair like women. i've honestly never been able to understand it I've often wondered why grown men shave their heads clean. I guess they like looking like convicts or leather Daddies. It's one thing if you just naturally lose your hair but to opt for the Telly Savalas look is beyond me. Long hair is in Kevin, from star NFL players to Rockstars, you're living in the Reagan era.

Considering we have 2 guys in our forum (you and Happy valley) that have long hair..that may be one of the most ridiculous things you've ever posted. Long hair on guys went out in 70's. Rock stars kept the look which is fine.. But 99% of the male population in the world does not have long hair. If you want to look feminine that's your choice.. Logan11
We are pretty much under a wonderful siege of winter here today. Snow squalls off and on all day, blowing snow with local white outs, 19.5F right now is the lowest temperature thus far.
