Cold Miser
holy chr*st, wtf is going on in here...Tip dropping suicide notes on page 26...2 pages devoted to comparing the only two sports talk show stations in the BOS area...tipping chairs, and the sound of scraggly figures trying to grasp onto the hope of 2-4inches? holy jeebus... Yup. Looks like we're all headed for 5 post maximum land. I was already scolded earlier this week via a mod removing one of my posts to Wiz. CoastalWx
This system first up on the docket is shearing a portion of the vorticity field out ahead of what is converging on a subsume phase scenario. A fragment of the SPV comes down and the two promise to stem-wound a helluva baby as they coitus ...to progessively eastward to invite anyone else in the sheets. At least in this solution... .buuuut, it was also hinted at pretty strongly by the 00z other fellas on the panel, that this better phased result would happen. After a portion of the vorticity shears east and excites either overrunning, or a wave like that...the bulk of the southern dynamics skirts into the lat/lon of the upper MA, inducing said SPV's southward plunge - classic subsume! Too bad that isn't a earlier - Yeah that is interesting. The 00z euro tries to hint at this as well, with the PV lobe tucking in behind the southern vortmax, but just a little too late. There is a hint at that southern system trying to come north, so we'll see I guess.

No no, the deeper meaning is that I have no spirit for winter left in me - at least until about November 1 2011 I know you still do. You love anomalous situations...whether it be a bowling ball 500 monster, or massive cold moving in from Canada. Once this 60F nonsense is gone, you'll be fired up by things like what the 12z GFS is showing for later next week.
Ginx snewx
This is a classic mid summer thread, if we did not just come off the most epic run ever seen, people would be fighting each other over rain snow lines. You can tell we are just the most unique group on this board.
mahk_webstah
I have to admit, given my general optimism, and membership in the CoT....it does feel like this winter could peter out. We need a good storm to change the vibe.

I know - I did say, "I will enjoy whatever this winter's battle against its own mortality gives us in the interim". It is not like I won't be fired up if the anomalies are impressive - I'm not brain dead. But just the same, my spirit for winter lust is gone. If it all fell to pieces and the -PNA suddenly dominated through March, I would be just as happy to get warm times, girls in dazy dukes, frizzby golf, long bike rides, runnning out doors, ...etc, going. Typhoon Tip
Why can't you run outdoors? I've been running all winter I don't like running in cold... bad on the joint for the first couple miles... a, and b, I don't like running in the dark. It's definitely unsafe with poorly shoveled sidewalks, and heavily narrowed roads to be running at night.
IsentropicLift
Long range GFS is extremely active. Looks more wet than white at the moment but I would be happy with a few bombs to track regardless.
radarman
I am estimating 24" worth of near misses this year, some of those misses particularly annoying because they were steadfast depicted sometimes for days to be decent hits - only to nuance us up the azz with unexptected disappointments. If we could have even half of those criminal weather behaviors unstolen from our collective mirth in the matter ...back, we would have beaten the 1995-1996 John-centric snow on the ground at a given point in time, record. Speaking of sports radio, this statement reminds me of what Theo was saying to D&C earlier this morning regarding John Lackey... (paraphasing) "The bullpen blew at least 4 games for him. If they don't do that, he wins 18 last year" How bout the games he gave up tons of runs but the offense exploded and he got the win anyway? Every 18 game winner should've been a 22 game winner by that warped logic. Fact is, for the 24" of missed snow, we've gotten 36" of lucky snow. CoastalWx
Canadian seems like an advisory deal, but maybe barely so. Tough to tell on the 12 hr panels, but looks like a change to ice for some..perhaps rain along the south coast.

The GFS has had this idea of a big lakes cutter for quite some time now. Wouldn't take much to make things interesting for the northeast either. CoastalWx
pretty good agreement on that basic idea from the nam/gfs/ggem to this point. Yeah we at least got a feel for what may happen. I wonder if it's possible part of the area may get "screwed" in a way. Some may get little qpf from the first low, and then the second gets whiffed to the south?? In any case, the ensembles are a little south with the 1st wave (not surprising), but do get us with maybe another advisory deal on Tuesday. Not me. I have no interest in warm sunny weather in February or March. Winter months = winter weather. Plenty of time reserved for warm days later on. And, as luck would have it, it's looking quite wintry for the forseeable future. Kick. Azz.
