famartin
Still unpleasant. I have a feeling hiring freezes will be coming quickly, cutting of programs, outreach stuff may be cut, traveling, etc. That is still a lot of cash (yeah it is NOAA overall--but the NWS will have to absorb some of it as well of course). Probably, but at least it seems furloughs will be avoided... for now. As Tony mentioned, FY2012 is the next hurdle...
Amped
The general final cuts are in- $142 million for NOAA as a whole, not sure how that will affect the NWS..... NOAA - Operations, Research, and Facilities -$119 NOAA - Procurement, Acquisition and Construction -$23 I know of a good a good plan about NOAA budget cuts from without effecting the NWS. it was posted on eastern OT by MetTech or Weather53 a while back. isohume
NOAA's Climate Service has been cut. I think that was a good cut actually. http://www.bnet.com/blog/clean-energy/budget-winners-and-losers-what-died-survived-and-thrived/4799
