A-L-E-K
Sort of surprised to see the trends on the latest runs...could LAF be back in the game for something wintry? Having a hard time with the thermals on the Euro/GGEM. Just where is the rain snow line sitting respectively with those two?
A-L-E-K
not saying JB is god but with his comments and the GEM shifting south I'm a bit more optimistic here for seeing snow. JB doesn't even factor in my thinking. The Euro has built up can't be ignored type consistency and is slowly gaining support.

prinsburg_wx
wow big step south from its previous runs. any chance you could throw up the 850 temp maps and a total qpf? made quick 6 day total qpf map

I'd be cautiously optimistic there. There's always the prospect of WAA being underdone and it does appear that there will be an icy transition zone. Maybe we can find our way into it. I'm up in the air with the thermal forecast, but i'm leaning towards this being a wet system from a QPF standpoint.

Ya I'd agree, GEM has been consistent in showing that as well as the 12z Euro yesterday which had 1.55" liquid at ORD.
daddylonglegs
That is a lot of liquid. Trend this thing further south

Thundersnow12
12z GFS out to 138hr on NCEP, further south than the 0z run and weaker, sfc low at 997mb in southeast IA then takes it straight east along the MI/IN border.
Madmaxweather
EURO has rain to snow here.. Not alot but I may raise an eyebrow because Dr. No is notorious for catching something and not backing down..
BowMeHunter
Went from worried about not enough blocking to to much on the euro.. decent hit for iowa, illinois, Indiana. Looks like GFS finally starting to get a clue. Garbage in garbage out model as ct blizz says. JohnDee agrees with ct blizz.. Added some girth to the weenie map today. Moneyman
GEM/GFS would be a great snowstorm here, EURO is way south. Oh, the models. Bow, Weeks agreed to a contract extension today btw.
Madmaxweather
GFS has 60 for me next Monday while the EURO has 30-35 with light snow.. Who will reign supreme?
hawkeye_wx
Look how far south the Euro has the H85 0C line. It would potentially have snow all the way down into northern Missouri and central Illinois.

Good place for the euro this far out.. models will struggle with the amount and position of blocking. I'm not sweating suppression yet Great news on weeks depending on contract and he stays healthy.. Now we just need Gamel to do something eventually instead of being the offensive Ben Hendrikson.

Moneyman
Great news on weeks depending on contract and he stays healthy.. Now we just need Gamel to do something instead of being the offensive Ben Hendrikson. Agreed. Tom H said the deal is a 4 year deal worth between 34 and 36 million or so, the 5th year is a player option worth 14 million BUT it can be voided depending on how many games he plays etc. Should become more clear in the next 1-2 hours (they said he is taking his physical now) Next up is Marcum and Greinke.
