I rarely post in that thread but I follow it everyday. I've been here 3 years and haven't seen crap. I'll take anything at this point. LOL.

I know how you feel I was really excited ( and nervous) when I was about to experience my first storm. J.B. on weatherbell site talks about the now designated 91L system in the Atlantic. His response is at the end of his blog.

Check out those storms in Levy County.

We're gettin started early.

Hopefully they will get down this way.

Wow!!! very nice!!! I see they have spawned a severe t-storm warning now as well. I had a decent boomer last night. I thought I had missed the action, then about 8:30 a few house rattling rumbles of thunder and about a 20 minute rainfall. Hopefully later today, some bigger storms like the ones around Levy county now will come visiting.

While it's just a inverted trough , maybe a sign of the track of future storms? anyways, here is the EURO.

post-974-0-59556400-1303314010.gif

it's an appetizer at best. I will take anything that gets some rain into the area. All of us watch the main tropical thread with interest and it is a snobby thread and that is cool. Those core guys like storm perfection and the reality is that even in here in FL true tropical quality is tough to come by on a year to year basis. It is just prudent for all of us to know, learn, and prepare for what absolutely can happen here.

It's always funny to see people from the midwest that have no firsthand experience of tropical weather downplaying what goes on in our backyards.

Oh I agree , by time it gets to Florida it will be just an appetizer. It's just a reminder that tropical season is just around the corner. Oh and your right, The tropical thread does seem to draw the Grey Poupon crowd at times.

I was so fired up about those storms yesterday I didn't even realize 91L formed. I thought you were just messing around with that post.:yikes:

Yep, 91L has formed. The EURO brings it as a inverted trough across Florida early next week and at least along the East Coast of Florida, shows a pretty good round of Showers and T-storms from it,

I hate how when you ask questions in that thread some treat you like an outsider because you are not part of their little clique. Not all of them are like that. Josh and some of the Mets are definately cool to teach and talk about things, but some of them need to get off their high horse and stop acting so smug. I chalk it up to being jealous. It has to kill them to be fanatical about these things living 1000+ miles from the ocean while we can walk/drive to the beach to check the action out. LOL.

We need a "good round" of showers and T-storms here on the southern East Coast. Still 27 days shy of the earliest onset of the wet season in the past eleven years on the Treasure Coast. I will take anything before then!

Yea, I know what you mean!!!.. Josh is a cool cat, as Softparade has said and most of the Promets are very cool about questions, sometimes I don't bother to post in the thread and just PM a Promet or Josh a question.

I agree with you on that.. Anything we get in the next month or so before the rainy season kicks in will be gladly taken.

While nothing much will come out of 91L, it is interesting to see the last few runs of the GFS has developed something in the very long range in the SW Caribbean. Not holding my breath of course with any model output in the extended but it will be interesting to see how this pans out. If nothing else maybe at least some very deep tropical moisture can be pulled up over the state before the rainy season makes an offical apperance.

Oh, Love Bugs :arrowhead:

I noticed them hovering low just off the grass the past two mornings. Not in full force yet but here they come. Last season they were so bad that the entire length of my backyard fence was BLACK with them. They were attracted to that fence like you would not believe. Usually it should be in May I hear .... not sure. BUT, they are coming!

Thanks, I have no time to pay attention to models! Just the mention of "deep tropical moisture" perks me up  Perhaps another chance at rainfall pre season style.

I remember when love bugs wouldn't come out until near Memorial Day... I can't imagine them getting started at the end of April! Unreal! They are the worst bugs to deal with, especially when you have a white/silver car! :( However, since I've been in Georgia, I have noticed that there are a lot more bugs to hit! Every time I travel any of the rural roads, my car is COVERED in bug guts.... Not a fun thing to deal with when you don't have a hose to wash it off with... :(

Yes, while it is at the end of the run on the GFS, at least it's in an area you might expect for an early season development. I will be keeping my fingers crossed this feature keeps showing up on future model runs. Like you said even another chance of a pre season heavy rainfall would be welcome.

Might be a silly question, but what are love bugs?

They show up here in Central and North Florida twice a year, May and September. It seems May is the worst month!! You will be driving down the road and see a black haze heading you way and then a few seconds later your car is engulfed in the swarm.:arrowhead:

LOVEBUGS

They're nothing more than insects that like to mate CONSTANTLY. Also, they're a nuisance for car owners, because they turn your car black when you drive through a swarm of them.

Heh, never heard or seen them before. Thanks!

Legend has it that the University of Florida was experimenting with them and they escaped. Now they are a huge PIA to everyone in the area.

Last year I sprayed the front of my truck with pam cooking spray. It definitely helped with washing them off.

I was told the same thing regarding the cooking spray when I moved here 19 months ago. It definately helps and does not harm your vehicle! Last May the onslaught was epic. Or maybe just because it was my first encounter. They were EVERYWHERE for 6 days. Forget about leaving your garage door open ...... September was not nearly as bad. I noticed them arriving 2 days ago and most are still "single" The main attack is yet to come ... and they don't attack everywhere at once. I work in alot of counties and when it was done in one area last May it was just kicking in in another.
