CoastalWx
Among the few times on a walk up Corey Hill I was fearing for my life. That was an amazing system especially when you factor that 12 hours earlier it was raining with temps in the 40s. Yeah no kidding, what a storm...and what a winter! mahk_webstah
Yeah definitely. Avg highs in the 40s soon, if not now (which seems like a torch after this long, cold winter) and rising quickly. By the time we reach next weekend and "winter returns", the 30s will be below average yet still melting, after the main warmup. Ask DC how they feel about Met winter ending March 1st. They think it's BS too..only it should be February 16th...;D Ave high in CON which is similar to your elev in Bedford is 38 on March 1 and 41 on March 10. Get back under your blanket for another month and put a log on the fire.

mahk_webstah
I am not a huge winter sports guy even though I love the snow...I've skied a bunch and snowshoed a few times, as well as hiked some of the big peaks in the Greens and 'Dacks during winter, but it's not a major part of my lifestyle. I might get more into it in the next few years, but I'm most devoted to growing a vegetable garden and playing tennis in terms of outdoor activities, and we still have a couple months before we get to that point. love em all! thats new england baby....all 4 seasons....life the way it is supposed to be lived. Meanwhile >0 850s for my feb 28-mar 2 trip to anchorage? lol
weatherMA
42/28, looks like one day of 50s Friday and then a few 40s. Tommorow will be a nice "sneaky" cold day when everyone thinks the warm up is here. This week is a good test for the glacier that is 26" deep IMBY. ski MRG
So what you are saying is that it's better to play the politics, sugar coat everything, post tens of thousands of times in a couple months about nonsense and rehashing every idea someone else already said...keep walking. No, I haven't sugar-coated anything, I just haven't gone apoplectic over a day or two of above freezing temps. Two days that appear against a backdrop of months of below normal cold and snowy days. I post mostly observations and while I follow the models closely I leave the analysis in the open forum to be given by the trained Mets that post here. You're propensity for trolling has only gotten worse. When Blizz used to call you out I felt he was to harsh but now I see where he was coming from. Spring isn't here yet, it's mid February and even where you live that is Winter. You'll have to wait a bit longer to enjoy your filthy dieing snowbanks, mud and fossilized dog sh*t. Enjoy Winter, it here for a while longer.
mahk_webstah
I didn't realize you were a tennis player...I played varsity all four years of HS and took various tennis classes throughout college, but am rusty now. I will get back into the swing of things during the spring, excuse the pun. I don't know if I'd want 12 months of winter but I would like for the climate to become a little colder and snowier, with snow cover all winter and some true arctic shots down here. me too! Conference champ 3 years in a row. Still play as my knee and back allow. Greatest sport to play your whole life...and the rust disappears quickly. Have great red clay courts here in Concord, that I should be able to use in May, just after the snow melts.
ski MRG
I'd run circles around your crew. Let someone from eastern Mass show you how it's done, not you slouches out in GC. I'd give you until 10:00 break when it's single digits and wind. I can see you now sitting in the truck with the heat on full blast dreading having to go back out there. To say that the snow is still fresh and that we've had a day or two of above normal in Feb (when all is said and done) is simply a lie, you know it and I do too. Mica Vim Toot
What's your snow depth? My best gauge is found out in the harvested fields. Not the ridged potato fields but the barley/canola/oats fields which are left with a stalk "stubble" which holds the snow yet doesn't gather it. This snow is powder all the way to the dirt. It's thus "bottomless" as we sledders like to complain. When I dismount in these fields to step off the packed trails the snow reaches my lower-most thigh. Stop that, Snahk. I'm 6'2" so I'll guess 20"? Snow picking up now. NE 5kts/18f. Gotta ride. Vim Toot!

This is New England....it is culturally appropriate to taunt with advantage...but all done in the context of friendship and camradery. Again, display your inches proudly! It's always worked for me. Typhoon Tip
It was 44F on the way into the office this morning, and there was not one stream of water running down any of the roads, not one – I found that really interesting, that even where the snow banks are kissing the pavement there is no melting. We are so far above freezing and the snowpack is completely untouched. I’m thinking maybe the dryness of the air (low DPs) may have something to do with that. This type of warmth may characterize this week’s assault on winter. Pattern beyond turns cold again.

It's not just that area...even here with much less/broken snow it's not going away fast until the sun comes up. Been that way for a week. Once the sun is high in the sky we'll get 2-4 good hours of melting and that's it.
Mr. Windcredible!
All I know is that I expect to see patches of bare ground by the weekend...which will be the first time in over 5 weeks. I will also likely lose my bet with the wife, which was that we wouldn't see bare ground until March. We're probably down to 6-8" of cement, but it softens up quite a bit on these warm days. Looking on the bright side, this stretch is exactly what we've needed to help curb concerns of major basement flooding this spring here on the shoreline. A prolonged thaw with a couple nice dry weeks.
