Damage In Tolland

Recommended Posts

You have the VP II+ , when did that happen? I thought you had the $400 Davis one...nice. Yeah, 2m.

I've had it since Dec of 2007.

Days like today I was prob 1-2* cool because of the 1M height....agreed, but it's not always cool, that is what I was trying to say.

No matter where it is located, your are going to have outlier days.

do you notice that you're too cold on radiation nights too? I would think that would be the case also.

LOL..but there were several yrs where I got busted on relentlessly. And I have a Davis 2 and 2 other temp sensors..Not until folks came here and experienced the microclimate themselves did it cease

Those days where we had strong CAA from a 330-340 direction and you are 3F colder than ORH and 1-2F colder than all 3 Norfolk, CT sites (which were 300-400 feet higher) is where you got busted on by some of us...because it was physically impossible for that to happen.

And this year they will be a degree or 2 cold because of the unnatural cooling at 3m due to the frosty peaks of your snow mounds.

At least until Friday...

I was never that much colder than those stations..Many times though it does cool off here before ORH due to longitude

For awhile there I think you were reporting whichever thermometer had the lowest reading. ;) I think that's where the ball busting started. You were more in line with the other Tolland stations this year....1-2F cooler when the BL was mixed and then a little warmer in those radiational cooling scenarios. You better get that USB cable this spring.

I still have them and they are all typically within 1- 1.5 degrees of each other. The Davis warms up the fastest and then the others catch up..like in a zr situation..the Davis 2 might read 27 while the others read 24-25..that's about the only time there is a dramatic difference

Well with precipitation occurring the unshielded sensors will wetbulb down a bit lower. Then in rad cooling situations they will lose too much heat (you'll be measuring the sensor surface temp and not the true 2m ambient).

Anyways...I think this topic got derailed enough...Saturday looks cold.

Hippies in their Birkenstocks, crying for their mommas, after breaking out the Jesus Joggers today.

It should start cranking sometime around 3z right through morning.

Winds probably won't come around until after 10 or 11.

Thanks, yeah I mean thats what I thought, I was just wondering why we have been under a HWA for a while, I guess there were a few gusts earlier saw ewr gusted to 51, but after the front passed its actually been pretty quiet.

LOL I was up in NH today actually getting a new snow plow on a truck i recently purchased, I had to stop at a few places on the way back and I could only shake my head at the people I saw in shorts and flip flops C'Mon Man!! Oh well should be a rude punch of reality tmrw morning for those folks! The snow pack actually put up a good fight here today and maybe with some luck I can make it through the torch at the end of the week, we will see. All I can say is we best get a few more events, even if they are pedestrian in nature I just wana try be able to try that plow out!

Well it did feel pretty nice, compared to what we were used to. 52 felt like 62.

People wonder how the snow in NNE can last so long...right through March into April. Well, stick your hand into the snow and you'll see why. True snowpack has high water content and is very icy. It takes a lot of energy to melt it, especially away from direct sun. Of course in March, NNE adds to the snowpack, but the theme is the same.
