A-L-E-K
Eh, it will probably end up drying up as we move closer to the event. I would take 1/3" though. We'll see...i'll believe it when I see it. We're on the same page here.

Moneyman
I'll start the thread either late tonight (after the Euro shows 3 feet of snow for BOS and 1 feet of snow in Chicago) or I'll start it tommorow afternoon. I'll probably end up jinxing it though but meh

KokomoWX
Well, it's something (from IND)... UPPER LEVEL SHORT WAVE TRAVERSING OVER TOP OF THE RIDGE WILL STRENGTHEN AS IT DROPS INTO THE GREAT LAKES ON SATURDAY AND SPIN UP A SURFACE WAVE. MODELS CONTINUE TO WAFFLE A BIT ON TRACK AND TIMING OF THE WAVE...BUT INDICATIONS STILL POINT TO GREATEST IMPACTS TO CENTRAL INDIANA COMING SATURDAY AND SATURDAY EVENING. EVEN THOUGH THERE ARE TRACK DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MODELS...THERE HAVE BEEN A SOUTHWARD SHIFT FROM SUNDAY RUNS. HAVE EXPANDED THE RAIN/SNOW MIX TO ENCOMPASS THE NORTHERN HALF OF THE FORECAST AREA SATURDAY AS A RESULT WITH TEMPERATURES HOLDING INTO THE 30S. STILL EXPECT MAINLY RAIN TO THE SOUTH WITH HIGHS IN THE UPPER 30S/LOWER 40S. PRECIPITATION WILL LIKELY END AS LIGHT SNOW SATURDAY EVENING.
buckeye
meanwhile back at the 18z gfs.... ....the very weak clipper moves across the central lakes with flurries and snowshowers and sprinkles for most. oh, and it says what storm #2? lol

Hoosier
Hoosier had no reply for you Euro actually throws light accumulating precip all the way back this way.. Just saying lol, haven't really looked at it too much. I'm sure there will be some potential since the airmass coming in is pretty cold...that isn't the only factor of course. ams30721us
From Cincy: 12Z ECMWF AND CANADIAN IN GOOD AGREEMENT IN BRINGING A SUBSTANTIAL SHORT WAVE OUT OF THE NORTHERN PLAINS AND THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY AT THE END OF THE WEEK. THE ECMWF HAS BEEN FAIRLY CONSISTENT WITH THIS FEATURE. MEANWHILE THE OPERATIONAL GFS RUNS OVER THE PAST FEW DAYS HAVE NOT HAD THIS OR HAVE BEEN EXTREMELY WEAK. HOWEVER THE 12Z GEFS DOES OFFER SOME SUPPORT TO THE FORMER. GIVEN REASONABLY GOOD CONTINUITY IN THE ECMWF SOLUTION AND ITS STRONG SUPPORT FROM THE CANADIAN HAVE RELIED HEAVILY ON IT. THUS EXPECT PRECIPITATION TO BEGIN SPREADING EAST ACROSS THE FORECAST AREA LATE FRIDAY NIGHT AND OCCUR THROUGH SATURDAY AND INTO SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE TAPERING OFF. PRECIPITATION TYPE WILL BE A BIT TRICKY. AT THIS POINT IT APPEARS THAT IT WILL BE ALL RAIN IN THE FAR SOUTH AND ALL SNOW IN THE FAR NORTH WITH A TRANSITION ZONE IN BETWEEN. THIS WILL CHANGE OVER TO SNOW EVERYWHERE SATURDAY NIGHT BEFORE ENDING. HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD IN SUNDAY AND MONDAY. THIS WILL REINFORCE COLD AIR WITH READINGS FORECAST TO BE BELOW NORMAL THROUGHOUT THE LONG TERM.-- End Changed Discussion --

snowstormcanuck
For those in southern Ontario/Toronto, Environment Canada is calling for periods of snow on Wednesday, likely from the secondary low development across PA/NY state. The 12z RGEM is strongly hinting at this. Maybe we see a flake. Maybe. And it looks like a 2009-10 redux the next week to 10 days as every type of snow producing system gets deflected to our SW. It'll turn around for us one day.
