Chicago WX
0.31" of rainfall here yesterday. Warm temps in conjunction with the rain wiped out all of our snowpack.

daddylonglegs
LSE showing -8F for a low. Tomorrow nite ""only""" showing -10F, but they have some clouds in the forecast...i think we'll see far lower temps then that.
turtlehurricane
12 °F at MSN and on top of the met building, with gusts still over 20 mph. Completely clear skies are resulting in a very quick temp drop. This could be a colder night than projected imo.

daddylonglegs
Yup... we are right around -9F for the month... Should add some to that these next few days. I see Denver is almost +6F... I wonder if we see a January thaw this year... It sure doesn't look like anything above freezing in the next 10 days.
Chicago WX
Getting some LES table scraps here right now. 14º and winds still gusting into the low 30's. Winter.
snowstormcanuck
Wow, la nada on the GFS through 16 days. How depressing. When I thought of how this Nina might backfire, I was thinking of a dominant GOA low/raging Pacific jet and general torch from coast to coast. Didn't even consider that the Atlantic would completely overwhelm any -ENSO benefits and basically re-establish the pattern we had last winter. Check out the December temp anomalies so far...very reminiscent of the layout of last winter with the coldest anomalies in the northern Plains southeastward. Of course one man's misery is another's delight with this pattern, as LAF can "score" 2-5" events occasionally.

daddylonglegs
All this air is heading towards Badgerball's hometown: Coconut palms aren't going to like that. We hit 7F or 8F today... Wasn't all that bad out there. Temp is going to plummet here in another few hours.
cyclone77
Dropped to -1 this morning, and only made it back to 12 today, even with full sun. NWS point forecast drops us to -9 tonight. Already sitting at 4, so that sounds doable. Our nearly 1" of windblown powder from the "blizzard" brought our snow depth back up to about 4". The bottom 3" is so dense and glacier-like it will probably be around till March.
daddylonglegs
Just took a jog and it was -4.6F... Not bad at all. Face was a little cold, but other then that i was sweating by the time i got back.
Chicago WX
10.2º here right now. There's a chance LES clouds come in and ruin the party though, and we don't go too low overnight.

It certainly doesn't look good down there, tonight could be enough to ruin citrus crops from the looks of it. 4 °F now in Madison, should easily be the first sub-zero night of the year with clear skies, a thick snowpack, and calm winds. Walking home from the lab 6 hours from now or so will be terrible.
TheWeatherPimp
I'd watch for potential storm development the week between Christmas and New Years, definitely looks prime IMO.
