MichMedic
Was at a friends in Clawson, about 0.5-0.75" on the grass there, but nothing really fell at night while I was there. By DTW a good squall hit (0.3" on the day) and there were decent drifts against curbs and a slight icy glaze on the street. At home, just a trace new, the lightest dusting (not 0.1"). Its funny, the new snow from this evenings squalls varied literally every quarter mile or so. Thats lake effect lol. So far, it has snowed every day in December, as said about 90% of the time. ALL lake effect. DTW is at 0.7" total, mby 0.4" total. Clipper still on target for Thurs night. Really getting interested in this weeks coming events. So weird to hear of you guys getting more LES than us...LOL....we got an awesome DUSTING last night....
London snowsquall
I gave up trying to go to work today, after I looked outside. Another major dump overnight - My best guess from looking indoors is probably close to a meter of snow on the ground, which is pretty remarkable since all that was showing was grass on Friday morning. Schools are closed - some people are out shoveling trying to get to work (I assume) but yesterday's evening commute which I started early at 3:30 still took almost 2 hours (it normally takes about 25 min), so I'm not going anywhere. , Last year was the pitts - I think 09-10 was the lowest snowfall total in history for London for the season, so it's nice to get this season off with a bang. If its any consolation, MBY was in the same ballpark as yours lol. Last night DTW was under a band, the night before it was Warren. Tonight it may be south of I-94. We will see! daddylonglegs
My sister lives in Appleton, which is right by Green Bay. She has no snow. Its weird, because its such a winter wonderland over here with a pretty decent snowpack still in place (nothing is melting here). We hit 17F today. Tonite should be around 0F. -9.6F so far for the month below norms... We've got to break above normal at some point. I see Phoenix, AZ could see record temps in the near future. cyclone77
Coldest temps of the season so far. Down to 4. May go below zero later. Lost another inch or so today. Now down to 5". Kind of surprised at how much settling/sublimating has been taking place. I guess there could be some melting from underneath, but I thought the ground was already frozen before the snow. on_wx
I just saw some pictures on Facebook from London. There are a few pictures of people in the snow that is up to their elbows. turtlehurricane
00z GFS has gone absolutely ape****. Spitting out -16 °F at 2 m at MSN. 504 dm, really? 540 dm line, south of tampa at the same time? Looks like snow not out of the question even down to south FL, end of the world? heck, 0c 850 mb line gets to the keys, might even flurry back home. Coldest model forecast I've seen for a place where I live, and it's been consistently getting colder with each run in the entire eastern U.S. I'm so ready for real cold. If true, a slightly milder form of January 1994, of course a month earlier will also make a difference.
