snowstormcanuck
That's nice to hear and about time! We went thru TO yesterday and it looked kinda sad w/o snow. We have about a foot here. The worst of it still looks to be a little bit east of me, where it has been most of the night. They should have some impressive totals. Hey, welcome to the board! Are you Alan from EasternUSWX? I was looking at some of the MTO cams along the 401 through London. That city is getting crushed right now. Lotta areas there and to the NW are going to be measuring in feet come Wednesday. Here in Toronto, we're content to get a dusting from NW flow stuff and call it a success.

Let's see how the day evolves with the NW flow and see if you can get more than a dusting. The King CIty radar shows a nice band nailing 'someone' in the northern GTA but I'm not sure where you are in relation to say 400 and 407. Locally I'm trying to see if the schools are open and if my son gets his day off. I was bugging him yesterday about all the days we used to get off shool in the weather rockin' 70's. Well, glad you found this place. The more Ontario representation the better. Just measured 1.5"/3.8cm of very fluffy snow. Almost translucent. So a little more than a dusting (although I guess where you live you consider that a dusting ). You're from Strathroy IIRC? I was looking at the 12km 6z NAM and it does nudge the squall back to the west a little this afternoon, but you'd still likely be on the fringes. London looks like it's in for an extended thumping. No, I'm from the west end of London, so if the main band heads back west it should be right overhead. Now off to shovel and make the morning commute to work which takes me right across the city. I should get there around noon.........................
michsnowfreak
Easily the heaviest snow of the season. Getting qutie a bit of blowing/drifitng too. Everything's fully snowcovered. good for you, those bands looked intense. but *sigh* not here
LizardMafia
The bolded cannot be stressed enough. INDOT is sketchy and the drivers in Indiana are sketchier. 100% agree!
michsnowfreak
Its crazy looking at webcams across metro-Detroit this morning. Quite a few have completely bare ground, including here :-(, a lot have a dusting (some the slightest skiff of a dusting, others a "heavy" dusting), and a few have a near full blanket of snow. Lake effect snow can be so rewarding or so frustrating, especially when you are outside the snowbelt. http://www.trafficland.com/city/DET/index.html
Chicago WX
5º for the low at LAF this morning. Clear skies and snow cover FTW.
michsnowfreak
5º for the low at LAF this morning. Clear skies and snow cover FTW. Wow. The low for the month at DTW has been 23F, that was yesterday morning. Lack of snowcover plays a part Im sure, but the bigger fact is that there has literally been a thick, solid overcast the entire month, with the exception of about 2 hours of partial clearing the morning of the 3rd. daddylonglegs
We hit 0F at the NWS... My gauge shows 1.7F... Back up to 11F with clouds. Temp jumped around a lot between clouds/clear. AO looks to fall off a cliff in the extended.

No way I'm going anywhere with 1 foot + snow on the ground and a ton more coming. Stay safe. -SN continues here. Fairly light but big flakes. Probably AOA 2" now. Toronto4
I would say an inch or so of snow has fallen so far in downtown Toronto. It looks like more snow today and tonight with Environment Canada calling for another 2-3" today/tonight.

daddylonglegs
Sidewinder- From my earlier readings back in Sept/Oct...i think there was a pretty strong correlation regarding cold Decembers (at least locally)... I think it went warm Sept/Oct/cold Dec... Jan *should* turn warm...but who knows.

This is really fluffy snow that melts/compacts easily, especially in the urban jungle of downtown Toronto. Regardless, it's a high performer for a NW LES event. Sorry I should have been more specific, this: http://www.noaanews.noaa.gov/stories2010/images/winteroutlooktemp_2_20102.jpg Of course its only a couple of days we will have this bone chilling cold but still, in the laws of averages, it has been anything but edging towards warmer as of late. In other news I see pops have gone up here in IND for this weekend's upcoming storm. We can always use the precip after this summer's drought. London snowsquall
Still getting pounded in London. Best guess is 40 cms on the ground. The local forecast from Env. Canada is for 50 cms+ still on the way thru Tuesday (the top end would be up to 100cms). Hard to believe that will happen tho' as that would be a record (even bettering the famous Dec' 77 snowblitz of around 100 cms in 1 storm). Won't be working late today...... Chicago WX
Pretty impressive cold today...only has gotten to 13º at noon at LAF. Normal high here for today is 41º, so a -20º departure certainly looks possible.

turtlehurricane
Low of 6 °F this morning at MSN. Now it's snowing again, enough to put a fresh dusting on top of everything. Thursday system is looking substantial now for southern WI, with a really big shot of snow following Saturday. Hope it verifies!

turtlehurricane
Did you finish your Igloo, I'm sure all of will want to see it when its done! Right now one person can be squeezed into the igloo. Hopefully these storms verify so I can really make it really big, like for a few people to get in at once. It works perfectly for one person though, it gets warm in there quickly.

Chicago WX
14º under full sunshine here at 2PM. Nice. 12z Euro pretty chilly after the one day snow melting torch here with the day 5-6 system. Dry as a bone though past 168...may be a good time to do a LES chase.
