snowstormcanuck
Wraparound synoptic from the cutoff low is something of note on this run of the GFS. Between 150 and 180 it drops about 0.21" QPF at YYZ. I'd take a few inches.
jdrenken
4 years ago today, this puppy was starting to get going... http://mesonet.agron...our=13&minute=0 A bitter pill for LAF in the end, with how it looked on the models 2 days prior, but a good storm for those farther west and northwest. Got 19" total out of that on the NE side of Columbia, MO.

Chicago WX
Well reading through the 12z Euro thread, time to pin all my hopes on this upcoming "clipper" system.
JoMo
Well uhh, at least the GGEM has been consistent the last 2 runs with the 2nd storm... or something.

JoMo
0z GFS ends up killing the 2nd system after a nice hit for the Plains. yeah it passes just west of me currently. We'll see though, it has been killing the system before it even gets started in previous runs.

Chicago Storm
Since I started keeping records back in January '07, each December has featured at least 1" of snow during the first 7 days of the month. You really can't say too much since I only have four years(3 Winters) worth of data, but I thought I would throw it out there given the weekend potential. I'm still riding my dusting call for now. First 7 days...Month Total '09: 1.5"..............27.2" '08: 8.2"..............26.4" '07: 8.1"..............18.0"

BowMeHunter
Balls to the wall below freezing temps through the whole GFS runs is becoming the theme.. I could dig our first month in a long time coming in below avg being this December.. I'm just praying we can miss the dreaded grinch appearance around the holidays.. KeenerWx
Nice dusting of white out there =) Looks like heavier returns were to the south. Probably some more "substantial" accumulation. Not sure how much we have out there as it's blowing around. And, I really don't feel like going outside.
AppsRunner
Some light snow to start December here... not looking like anything accumulating but just a nice light snow that lasts a while.

Southern Ohio Wx Lover
She loves it, if she doesn't have to drive in it.. Haha yeah my wife gets palpatations when driving in any sort of snow... I love it. I go out in snowstorms for the heck of it, camera in hand most of the time. My 4yr old niece was quite excited this morning at the healthy clip of flurries/light snow coming down. I may have been even more excited than her haha.
Chicago WX
It's perfect for the holiday season also.. I'm surprised not to see the salt trucks out this morning.. I'm watching Fox 59 news and they're reporting a bunch of slide offs. No doubt morons forgetting how to drive when it snows and sticks.
michsnowfreak
Good to hear...far too many people hate snow it seems. My mom absolutely LOVES snow. My friends grandma LOVES snow, and shes 70. Trust me, while far too many people do hate snow, there are plenty non-weather people that love it (other than kids, who all love it).

No question where I got my winter weather love from. But all of my co-workers hate snow with a passion and I'd bet 75% of the people I talk today at work will share the same sentiment. Oh well, their loss.
jbcmh81
Looks like an extended period of light snow today with some accumulation. ILN said they didn't even expect the moisture to make it this far east, so 30% chance of flurries or a few snow showers was all they have, and still have in the forecast. Powerball
First measurable snow of the season here. I'm a bit surprised GRR hasn't issued any type of LES advisories yet (theyre calling for 4-6" in Holland).

But all of my co-workers hate snow with a passion and I'd bet 75% of the people I talk today at work will share the same sentiment. Oh well, their loss. My dad hates it more than anyone, mom loves it, siblings like it but not as much as me. Some of my friends like it but most dont (though I wouldnt say hate it). Now, my coworkers, haha same here wrt the coworkers. All 6 of them hate snow too, well Id say 4 hate it and 2 dont care for it (but dont complain like the other 4). Only our intern likes snow lol, and I never see him. Keep in mind too, there is a HUGE chunk of people who like snow, but not to the extent that we do. Or the length. I know a ton of people who really do want snow right now through Christmas, but then hate it after the New Year. Im sure a lot of that has to do with Bing Crosby, because when you think of it from a climo standpoint, winter is just getting going in December, with Jan/Feb the real heart of winter. Just doesnt make sense!
