When will NYC get a storm to dethrone 06?

We all know the deal....largest snowstorm in NYC's recorded history (1888 records accepted as they are). When will the city get a storm that will surpass the elusive 26.9"?

I think 30-35" is the practical cap in snowstorm size at KNYC. I believe 1888 and 1947 were underreported in KNYC, 2/2006 overreported. I think we will exceed record since I think blocking will predominate for next few years so we have a good shot.

Just get a storm like the 19" we just had at CPK to move at half that speed and have a better period at the front half and you get 50"; that would be NYC upper limit.

1888 was the champ..I don't can't what the official total was..there was over 30 inches on snow in NYC..just look at the pictures..lol

They already did TWICE: March 1888 and January 1996.

January 1996 is easily 28-30". '96 was so undermeasured in some locations.... Elizabeth got 32", Newark got 27.8" Essex Fells got 29.5" My father claims that IMBY got around 28".

I actually think up to 36-42" is possilbe in NYC for sure, how do we do it? Like February 1978 only further Southwest.

50" is extremely unlikely in Central Park and would likely be measured somewhere in New Jersey if it were to happen around this area. I think we will break the record next season. Just a personal opinion.

So you're telling us that we get a storm that exceeds December 2010 and surpass January 1996?!

Now this I gotta live for. But I think its going to happen sooner than later.
