pcbjr
There are actually TWO amazing cyclones in the N. Atl right now. The first one is the one further north, analyzed at 937 mb per the 12Z ECMWF (and has supposedly deepened since then). The second, equally interesting cyclone (IMHO) is the one currently undergoing baroclinic transition to the south of the monster low which has DEEPENED BY 34 MB IN 12 HRS (991 to 957 mb)! ECMWF 00Z Analysis: ECMWF 12Z Analysis: How could these affect CONUS weather?
baroclinic_instability
Latest OPC Atlantic analysis has it at 943 hpa as of 18Z.
baroclinic_instability
MODIS view of the storm (the northern circulation) from yesterday, which is the most recent satellite imagery of decent quality I can find. Superb shot of both storms. The northern low looks like a classic Polar Low.
aslkahuna
How could these affect CONUS weather? If you backtrack these Lows you will find that they and their progenitors already did affect CONUS weather a few days ago. Steve

SacrydDreamz
I love seeing this stuff -- just as neat are the eastern Pacific lows which can experience a warm seclusion, and thus end up being warm-core systems before coming ashore in British Columbia... dendrite
What's impressive is that Thule is in NW Greenland and is super-far removed from the gale center...must be katabatic winds. Well they aren't too far removed from the first low that was moved northwestward to the west side of Baffin Bay around that ob time (6z). There was quite the pressure gradient (940s to 1010s) across the western part of the country. 850mb winds were 70-80kt so it looks like some strong llvl jet winds mixed down. There may have been some katabatic influence too, but I won't claim to be an arctic winds expert.
