Looks like there is a moderate to maybe heavy band setting up just southeast of Charlotte. That is saturating the column at a much rapid rate than surrounding areas allowing snow to reach down all the way to the ground.

That band would set up just south of here :arrowhead:

Oh well, ill stay up a little while longer to see if a few flakes can make it into town.

Looks like we only have a small window of oppurtunity before it all head east

It is frustrating, however, we've still been getting more than our average none the less, so can't complain!

Lol, yep....there is that. And I think this is just the start of some very good years...as long as the sun doesn't get spotty, and Iceland continues to spew.

Heaviest precip of the event... rain ..very few flakes. Tony

just looked out the window and the ground is covered with a dusting

I hadn't looked outside since that heavier band on the radar passed overhead and only produced a few flurries as it completely stopped after that. I was surprised to look out the window just now and see everything white. Also it is currently snowing at a pretty good clip. The radar doesn't look too good, but at least I did get a dusting.

Currently light snow

Temp. 30.6

DP 26.8

Someone in NE Raleigh reported a few flakes/sleet pellets. My roommate saw a couple of them, too, but they're gone now. Back to dry weather! devilsmiley.gif

There is an area of good snowfall which has produced a dusting near Roanoke Rapids right now.

Wilson down towards Smithfield are likely seeing some dendrites atm... RUC again busted on thermal profiles as what is coming east will be SN. L2 supports this as a melting layer, like before is not evident. Coverage is filling in along 95, with the kicker not far behind, and shading in nicely. :snowman: WSW in effect!
