We have had a great band of snow, mostly moderate and heavy at times moving through. After the band moves through, it will be interesting to see how much of a difference from earlier. The ground has probably whitened up twice as much in those pics in only about 20 minutes. I have not budged from 32F since 10:20 though. Just stuck there.

In DT style, Alert, Alert, Alert, this is not a drill, deformation type band setting up from Danville to Farmville VA, extending to the SW, not sure of implications, but chasing SN-storms in the past, this band looks stout!

This band is passing right over my area at the moment and is producing only light snow at best despite 35+ dbz. The current temp is 32.2 with a dew point of 18. Also it is moving through pretty fast so I am not expecting much around here.

I now have a mix of half melted snow flakes, light sleet, even a few rain drops as the band has suddenly dried up and I'm back into the light stuff. Not totally unexpected to see a few drops since it's lightened up but would have thought it would have been more at the start, not at this stage. But the temp has dropped to 33.7 and it's been heavy enough to coat things in a thin layer of "stuff". Temp dropped 5 degrees in about 10 minutes. Sadly, I'm about to get back into another hole so I'm going to have to wait longer to see the real thing. That huge hole that showed up out of no where is frustrating but it's picking back up near atlanta it seems.

amazing I saw flurries 3 hours ago, with no returns on radar, and can't see any flakes with great returns.

same here until it started again a few minutes ago. silly me, i assumed then that with something reaching the ground, when the heavier echos arrived it would all reach the ground

This is gonna be the break for some lucky posters. Thing is expanding, just moving to fast, almost like a front. But if it stops and pivots any, watch out. This is what was being modeled earlier this evening and should give a heavy thump to some central NC and VA folks.

Yeah man...I feel your pain also. I will say that flurries have started back up and I can actually see some from my windown inside and not from outside under the light. Sad when it comes to this. Back in the early 2000's, I would never had gone to this extreme.

:deadhorse:
