Clinch Leatherwood
MOS is 10F below normal 1 week from now. Just sayin.... Per Scott the MOS butchered temps too low this week. (by ironically ten degrees If I read his post right ) Warm then cool then seasonable ups and downs. I think we will have shots but the break from what we had to what we will have still amazes me. To go from a storm every few days to "normal" will be a shock regardless. The chorus of those saying winter is over from NYC south grows. That effectively includes my area and barring a big change in the maps from what the gfs shows tonight I'd agree my area is probably in trouble. Cold...would rather it be 50 and warm than cold and dry.

Ensembles suggest it may not be so dry also. I have a hard time believing in a pattern without too much suppression it will be dry.
CoastalWx
Yea, even the best forecasters have FAILS....no harm in that because it's how met makes us better. We all said that some snow showers and sct squalls were possible.
CoastalWx
i was thinking the same thing today. if winter really has ended, will this winter be looked at as an epic winter? [/quoteI haven't posted much of late, but you'd be kidding yourself if thought I haven't been pndering this myself; the anser for me is no.....it would be a good winter with an epic stretch, but I don't think that we see another dud of a March.....it prob won't be epic like I though since Jan was, but it should be decent. This is exactly what I was saying a couple of weeks ago when everyone was throwing the word epic around. Wait until it's done to grade it.
free_man
closer to getting a severe outbreak than a snowstorm on the 00z Euro. If the Euro has any skill, this could get ugly fast.

Even though I don't know what I'm talking about, with high pressure building up towards the west of Greenland and a PNA ridge poking up just off the west coast, doesn't that vortex get squeezed and pushed south? We get real warm for a bit but that looks like another cold unload into our side of the globe. Like I said, I don't know squat, but....

Luckily, the euro ensembles were colder, but do have the low passing close to us (sne).

moneypitmike
What in the hell happened Based on that, I think the chipmunks that have spent the last 4 months mating and making hordes of baby chipmunks are beginning to stir under your lessening snowpack. CoastalWx
To the return to winter We'll have wintry bouts. Just a little trollin'. Still turns colder next weekend, but we'll walk the line with a gradient pattern. We may have bouts of warm and cold, but just hope we're on the right side of the boundary. The euro ensembles were cool in the 11-15 day.
