Well Euro brings us back with winter chances beginning PDAY. Nice pattern setting up that week.

Honestly yes we'll have a few way above normal days but the hand wringing over this is too much for me to take so I'll probably stay mostly away. When I was out last night visiting relatives in Dedham, I once again marveled at the huge snowpack, the incredible winter we've had, and the deep clear cold night that was ongoing at that moment. I just returned from 2 hours in the woods within the city limits of Boston. Deep snow, mild feeling despite still in the 30s. Yes we will torch for a couple of days...Euro is robust with a 564 thickness period during Saturday with SW winds. 60 is possible but more likely 50s as the wind travels over old snow. By Sunday we're looking out at the reduced but still complete snow cover. By Monday it's building again. Anyone else ready for the big grand finale over the 4 week period 2/21-3/21?

Sorry for the hand wringing..Gerald..I know that's directed at me. It' s just my nature.I hate losing such an historic snowpack

I'm liking the way the long range is setting up..Looks like we do jump right back into winter and throw caution to the wind

It actually wasn't directed at you. It was directed at a few who think that's it...winter's over. Yep....epicosity returns to rock on to spring.

I like SE Ridges as long as there is cold air lurking up north. Let the nw side of that ridge set up a gradient pattern. Misery in Philly and NYC but great up here. Very Nina pattern coming and we do well with that. This pause though is irksome at times. Dont' mind a warm sunny day in the middle of winter as long as I know it's just a pause. DT has ended winter for the east coast south of New England, at least in terms of sustained cold and big coastals. But that's just climo in mid Feb....

Next week does look interesting on the euro.

Really, there is nothing new here. This warm spell was hinted at days ago, and so was the cool down next week. Details to be determined, but it does look like it could be active. However, we may be on our toes as the boundary lurks to our south. -PNA rages. Still, an active pattern is usually a good pattern for a chunk of sne.

What a torch...but...looks interesting beyond it with renewed cold and snow chances.

Pretty Much.

People spend too much time worried about snow. It's a great day out there today. Will be beautiful Sunday as well.

Guilty as charged...

But cmon...you have to admit that you are just as interested in it as the rest of us. Maybe the warm days are more welcomed by some than others which is fine. But you can't deny you love snow and winter storms. You stay up into the wee hours tracking the ruc runs when it matters :snowman:

Says the man who posts 100 maps for a 2 inch change to rain. Awesome day, no melting , snow in the air, more flakes tomorrow, feels like winter.

Yeah but you just posted for two days about a flizzard front so we all have our fetishes.

I do but the futility of modeling outside of 2-3 days has been dominant all winter. What happens will happen but there's a good chance at this range the models won't have much of a clue. We're in the middle of February the last 7-8 days haven't been great snow wise in extreme S/SE NE and the next 8 aren't either. That's more than 2/3 of our snowiest month in the toilet (in extreme SNE and points south).

I hope it changes to the snowier but I'm enjoying the warmer weather in the meantime.

Whatever happens will happen.
