raining pretty hard currently, and its likely plain rain too. I better see at least 10-15" tomorrow night for this nonsense hah.

CTP radar is very interesting. The fact that both Tioga and Potter counties are completely colored in the 30dbz dark green is pretty epic. It also appears that there is a discernable difference between the heavy snow and areas of potential mixing across the central counties. Mixing might actually be making it all the way up to Lock Haven, although I don't have any obs to support that. I also wouldn't be surprised if its now mainly rain/zr in State College and zr/sleet back where 2001kx is. UNV still had light snow as of 40 min ago, but Clearfield and Dubois are indeed reporting freezing rain.

WOW, would you guys believe me if I told you I currently have 8.3" and I just had a remarkable 2.5" a hour rate!! (2-3AM). I haven't seen it snow that hard in sometime. Those rates will be over with soon and it looks to lighten up very quickly. I'm thinking 11 or 12" is looking like the max, we will see. None the less I'm very impressed with that last batch

Could be 7"+ in the south tomorrow night.

Certainly not directed at you, but there were a lot of posters in this thread that proclaimed winter was over around here a week or so ago. I had commented that it was only mid February...people give up way to easily. Personally, I think we're gonna get rocked some time in March. Just a hunch...

Tire was leaking air but, as I drove on it the rocks came out so it's ok for now. Buck bumper is got some gashes in it. All it all could have been a lot worse. The other side of the road was a cliff. yikes.png

Oh geesh, well least your ok. What road did that happen on?

Yea for sure, I was really surprised at that.. perhaps more than I should've been. I mean look at the date, Feb 21st and we have the northern half of PA seeing its most significant snowfall of the season and Monday night some folks in the southern half of PA might see their highest snowfalls of the season to date. Talk about coming back fast. And yea, I think at least the first half of March could be interesting. It seems we're in a bit of a transient pattern currently, but there's a lot of cold air looming up north thats gotta come out at some point.. something that was missing by the end of Feb last year.

It's to bad the IPT posters aren't on anymore, would like to hear some of their reports. I'm probably done going outside until 7AM seeming how it looks like most of the heavier precip is begining to wind down, looks more like a light-moderate snow fall until 7 or 8AM. MAG and PSU its to bad I didn't see any T-snow at the height of the storm like I was hoping for, but this storm was a nice one for sure!! I want this 2nd wave to overproduce for you guys, that way the entire state of PA has snowcover again :) Then even more fun for the end of the week

And dynamics come in to play during March as well. Even down here, we've had some doozies well into March...I can recall at least 4 or 5 10"+ storms over the years. Doesn't last long, but they can be a lot of fun to watch unfold for sure.

3.2" so far. Hoping I can get to 6".

Met thoughts?

It should be doable and perhaps you might end up with a lil more. This is just starting to really get in that timerange that BGM had mentioned in the earlier evening near term update with the best oppurunity for heavy snows.

AS THIS ENVIRONMENT TRANSLATES EWD

LATER TONIGHT...THE PROSPECTS FOR SOME LOCALIZED +SN BANDS WITHIN

THE LARGER PCPN SHIELD WOULD SEEM LIKE A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY.

MODEL CROSS-SXNS FROM 06-12Z ACROSS NE PA/CNTRL NY SHOW A NICE

BURST OF NEG EPV...JUST PRIOR TO THE BEST FGEN FORCING/SLOPED

ASCENT (A NICE RECIPE FOR BANDED HEAVY SNOWFALL).

Current snowfall total of 10.1" with a rate from 3-4AM of 1.8" a hour! The intensity has deminished quite a bit now and is fairly light to moderate snow. The temp is down to 25.9°F. I will make one more Obs at 7AM this morning when most Observers do their time in the AM. Good night wx enthusiast! for those that missed out, I want you guys to get stomped during the next couple of upcoming storms.

Question...how can the afd from kunv say that the second wave is going south of pa???? What are they looking at? Fwiw, I think kpit is ignoring the second wave too.

Lol, then I read the Altoona text forecast, and I see 4-8 inches tonight for them, but not even an advisory?

I read that to mean that the actual center of low pressure will pass to the south of PA, not the shield of precip.

Well, since he barely mentioned any snow tonight, I read it to mean not much precip tonight. Confusing to say the least to see that, no advisories or warnings, and see altoona's text be 4-8 inches tonight.

They'll probably issue watches/advisories once wave #1 is through, as they are probably concentrating on that for right now. I agree though, it can get confusing when multiple events happen so close in proximity to each other.
