Clinch Leatherwood
Not looking forward to the next 10 days of total boringness. Hopefully that Miller B threat looks better as we get closer, but not all that optimistic. Let's hope it doesn't turn into ten months.

moneypitmike
Mike are you catching some snow? Just howling out there. Best winds in a while. Brutal night. We were getting snow earlier, but since it got dark, I can't tell what's blowing vs falling. My light's aren't too good. The temp drop has really eased. 11.2/-3. attm
ORH_wxman
Will, do you know what Princeton got for seasonal snowfall for 95-96 and 03-04? They had over 150" in 1995-1996 but I don't remember the exact number from Wachusett Meadow. '03-'04? That was kind of a dud season after December, but probably in the 65-70" range. I remember they had just over 147" in 1992-1993 because we went to "Hey Day" in Princeton in September 1993 and they had a contest that was "Guess last season's total snowfall". I guess 135" since I knew ORH had 120" but I was too low and one other person got closer.

I'm having a great season regardless. I just hope March isn't a dud like the last 3 years.

At this point I'll be dissapointed not to make 100", but I need 24" more to do it. Climo from this point would probably be a little bit over that so I think its doable. I've probably asked you 20 times, but have you seen the boards they use at Wa Meadows to show snow totals, with each storm marked? Pretty cool. A friend of ours snowshoes there some, and we have hiked it a bit.

This is now the interior season, we had a heck of a winter on the coast, and I am sure there will be more chances for snow until mid march, but this is when the interior and hills pull away big time, it your time to snow, enjoy it. What's important to me is that I have shattered the perception that this area cannot get more than 14 inches in a storm..Done twice in like 10 days lol.. and that I only need 15.2 inches for 100...and the depth and longevity of this snowpack. It will be put to the test most of next week . Regardless this has been the winter of my life..and one I will cherish forever

You have like a 90% chance imo with only needing 20" and your elevation. Id say I have a good chance as well. 16.5/7, gusted to around 40 at the peak. Regardless this has been the winter of my life..and one I will cherish forever Well we knew it happens once every 10 years or so....so you'll need to do it several more times over the next decade. This will probably be like the 3rd time your area has broken 100" on the season if you can make it there...perhaps only 2nd. Your town probably got over 100" in '77-''78 but its close. '95-'96 definitely did.

In this case it happened twice in 10 days..and we know exactly what kind of setup to look for to know when it might happen.. those 500 and 700 mb lows tracking like they did..doesn't mean it has to happen..but that's the way for me to do it..or in a storm like Dec 92 which are like 1 in 50 yr storms
Damage In Tolland
How long have you lived there, and where were you before that? In this house May of 2005..before that at 650 feet about 3 minutes away from 2000-2005...so some good winters in there for sure..but not like this. In 93-94 and 95-96 I lived at my mom's old house..the house I grew up in..in Vernon..But to me 95-96 doesn't come close to this because of all the torching rainstorms and snowmelt. When I look back at 78" , the storm dropped 2.86" of melted in 48 hours in Boston to deliver 27" of snow. Providence had 1.37" and 27" of snow. Another 1/4 to 1/2 fell after the 48 hour summary period which was a few more inches. Goes to show how sharp the transition is from cement (boston) to high ratio fluff (Providence). I guess what I'm driving at is did any of these storms this year get anywhere near the 2.5 to 3" QPF amounts?

No..I think the 26 inch or 25.5 actually storm..the liquid equiv was 1.46 at BDL and they had 24 inches...it was a very dense snow though.,not wet..but the snow was dense

Its extremely difficult to get over 2" of liquid equivalent snow. The Jan 12th storm though dumped about 1.5" of liquid equivalent over most of the region which was very impressive for a 12-15 hour storm.

Hartford was 13.1 in 78. I think you'll easily get what you need to break 100". The pattern has changed no doubt, but there's going to be plenty of 3-6/4-8 type events and maybe a gale here or there.
