Mr Torchey
Winds were nowhere near forecast today, and caa has been lackluster compared to forecast. 32 now, finally at freezing.
tamarack
AUG had about 30 min of moderate SN (1/2 mile vis) 2:40-3:10, but it barely showed up on pavement/vehicles. Back to -SN now. Donnie baseball in PM thinks March 01 looking better. Bring it on! The 3/4-6 storm was only 3rd biggest for the month, but 55.5" IMBY, with storms of 19", 16", 9.5", 7", and 48" OG on 3/31. kmcfarland99
It's been liquid in PWM for the most part during daylight hours I think (been wicked busy with work ... not much window gazing), but it is ripping now. Wow! Instant coating on everything. Wind seems to be quite robust as well. Too bad this wont last - up here on Runnning Hill Road it is dumping buckets of snow. moneypitmike
Nice to see the CAA just obliterate the 'heating' of the day. 19.9/13, top gust so far has been 33mph. Not too shabby at 8'.

Quincy
I'm kind of surprised we didn't get much around here. Stayed mostly 33 and RA/RASN for most of the event. Ended up with a slushy coating. When I left southern Hartford County around 11pm last night, snow was actually accumulating on main roads. Had to have been very elevation and location dependent. Clinch Leatherwood
Upper 30s here too. Everyone's obsessing over the coming torch, but this is our 4th consecutive day of above-normal temps. We've flirted with 40 each day, and with the exception of Saturday night the overnight mins have been way above normal. Piece this together with whatever warmth comes over the next 10 days, and there goes at least half of February. Shush! .9" on the day here It's been so warm we are losing ice on the edges of the bogs and ponds. I'm kind of shocked actually our skating pond is unfrozen on the edges. WTF but it's been mostly above freezing for days now. We are about to lose the unknown torch for more cold. Looking forward to sitting on the beach with a corona by the end of the month. Hopefully all the snow melting won't make cape Cod bay too cold.

Damage In Tolland
No melting off the trees here... Still plastered in snow..though much of it has blown off. Temp is down to 22. When I got into Vernon on 84 today and out of the hills it looked like they had gotten zero new snow..Terrible in the valley

We had more than GC and some of the Berks one of the rare times (this season) when moving to Danbury has not helped in the snow department. Almost every other season it's the other way around! congrats though, must be nice to have a fresh snowcover.

Damage In Tolland
i wasn't here for 4/97 so it's hard for me to comment. i know folks tell me it was a pretty good event down here...8 to 12 with lots of tree damage. that event is definitely a love it or hate it kind of thing with respect to the "give up 6 weeks of winter" in exchange for the "big one" idea. i'm guessing kevin (don't know how much he had...14"?) would not give up the next 6 weeks. i knew will and scott would in heartbeat...and i'm almost certain Ray will say yes to that. Never would i give up the next 6 weeks for that.. April snow doesn't last. It's fun while it's happening and then it's over and spring, and folks like Ray tiptoe thru the tulips in their tongs and thongs

I would probably have to go with April '97, although it would suck for those 6 weeks of people rejoyicing over spring.
radarman
Winds have really picked up here with the sun out and snow in the air. Classic CAA, although I certainly wouldn't call this a squall.

Everyone south of me has more snow. How does blue, wet snow that all fell with temps of 31-32 turn into windblown powder in a matter of 3 hours? All kinds of snow blowing around here...does it just magically turn into powder after having high water content?

All kinds of snow blowing around here...does it just magically turn into powder after having high water content? No, that was probably the snow you had during that squall. You can have "dry" snow at 32F, when the temps aloft are very cold. I bet that is what it was.
Mr Torchey
Looks like a nice squall ripping through se ct. It always amazes me how strong the sun becomes this time of year, im not talking about some sun angles BS, but im looking at my neighbors roof at 413, temp is now 31 but it faces sw and the water is just pouring off of it, snow melting at an alarming rate, shingles are dark and obviously that magnifies it, but the subtle signs are beginning to show, especially along the coastal plain.
