ORH_wxman
How much did you get in that He measured 26" in his BY if you weren't being sarcastic. But he probably inflated since Dobbs Ferry came in with less.
nzucker
He measured 26" in his BY if you weren't being sarcastic. That must have been like three inches of liquid, though...never seen worse ratios in my life except for maybe the old Fool's Day storm I don't think we dropped below freezing until like late afternoon, but it was snowing 3" an hour so it piled up anyway. My dad and I had a fun time shoveling that cement, NOT! Will, do you think I will ever see a 30" storm in this area like March 1960 or March 1888? Would you say it is about once every fifty years for that much? Would the current warming climate make it more common?
nzucker
He measured 26" in his BY if you weren't being sarcastic. But he probably inflated since Dobbs Ferry came in with less. I saw the co-op measured like 18" or so, but they're downtown in a fairly urban area at no elevation....every 100 feet really counted in that storm. I was amazed at the differences I saw when I went for a Jebwalk...headed downtown first where it seemed to be sticking substantially less, then up towards the wooded hills at 400' elevation where it was just crushing. Here are some pics...you can judge for yourself if you think I inflated, but I've been pretty conservative...I only measured 13" on Boxing Day when other stations in Westchester had 18" near me... wxsniss
No surprises on 05 RUC Still just spit here in Brookline. Don't expect more than a coating to a slushy inch on cars here by morning. You guys are saying Snowicane. This is the storm where southern VT was supposed to change to rain, never did and got 50" Total right? I actually went up 6-7 days after that and there was about 36" of Hard compact on the Ground. Most Snow I've ever seen, and CERTainly most hard conpact. wxsniss
U can see how its sticking to all the tree limbs. Snow coating tree limbs makes really beautiful photos... we had a storm like that 3 years ago in Boston metro, heavy wet snow with not much wind that coated tree limbs, made for some very scenic photos across the city. 1/16/2008... some photos below:

ORH_wxman
Terminator 2 has been on all day and night the last 2 days and all I can think of the past 2 days it Ekster's trees breaking from 1 inch of wet snow and then him saying "the snow comes sooner but so does the sleet" and minimizing the snow everywhere, lol in an Arnold voice. wxsniss
Those 25-30 dbz returns are clipping me just overhead... still rain here (or whatever you call snow that undergoes 500 feet of melting).
ORH_wxman
It's so true, though. We'll see how much the difference actually is between my BY and yours...you are probably mentally bracing for a 3.7" for me and a 0.6" for you but it wont even be close to that...it will probably be less than an inch for this one...its not extreme enough. ORH_wxman
Dude, I'm about to get raked....gonna run out for a naked weenie lap around the rotary. 32.0\29 I didn't realize we are basically neck and neck for snowfall totals this winter. I had assumed I was like 3-5 inches ahead of you despite my earlier post...I figured we were "close" but not dead even. Now I know why you are getting your panties in a bunch over some elevation events. You are cooked I think though so you shouldn't sweat it anymore. You probably needed about a 6-12" lead by now to realistically expect to beat a place to your west with a 800 foot elevation advantage. You can still do it obviously but you need a eastern favored event which becomes significantly less likely as we head deeper into Feb and go into early Mar. Still can happen though like Feb '69 which the brunt of it was Feb 24-25.
wxsniss
It's raining pretty good here. I expected this intensity to cool things at the surface sufficiently for snow, but apparently not. 1-2F is all it takes. Up in 5 hours, have a gnite.
