jconsor
The frigid water temps (low-mid 30s) in LI Sound and the Atlantic Ocean waters near LI, along with a relatively mild day and light winds, have created an unusual situation. It is rare to see a sea breeze and LI Sound breeze on a day when temps in surrounding land areas are in the low-mid 40s. The sea breeze and LI Sound breeze are quite localized and, as of 10:45 AM, have only penetrated about a mile or two inland from the shore. A-L-E-X
In my experience it's much tougher to get a sea breeze when there is thick cloudiness. Sometimes we do get a thick marine layer with drizzle and fog though. "Heavy" drizzle almost looks like rain falling and everything is soaked lol.
