Plains Weather Discussion

Recommended Posts

welcome back baro, wish you great success down in N. Platte. Euro op drives the L right over me so would be mixing issues or just rain for time...euro mean at day 7 looks to be just nw of green bay.

Thanks! I am excited to finally have internet again. I am catching up on things in terms of weather since I haven't really looked at anything since Friday. Work is paperwork paperwork paperwork right now--but I will be back in the weather loop here by tonight after I look over this more.

Models are showing a very active end to March with southwest flow aloft developing over the Plains. How far north do you think the severe weather threat could extend and will this be a good opportunity for a late season snowstorm or two for parts of the Northern/Central Plains?

Any thoughts on how the severe season will play out in the Northern Plains this year? Typically, it seems that slow starting years end up more active than normal come May-June-July. Hopefully that south central ridge can build north in the coming months and give us some good ring of fire events. SC ridges usually bring some good storm events up here..

Yeah ND is going to get some snow with this storm. Not sure he or anyone wants it anymore though, haha.

No, I'm sure he doesn't and neither do i but not much else happening wx wise around these parts...waiting for it to dry up so we can get into the fields. We can always discuss the "Royal Wedding", haha.

I agree--the Royal Wedding is a massive fail. Why anyone cares is beyond me.

Bismarck NWS just lofted up a huge blizzard warning.

Bismarck reporting moderate snow at 31/30. Very windy with NW 29 G 40.

It is a lovely day in the northern plains, lol. The bent back nature of this IPV bomb is impressive. That cold side gradient is significantly stronger than initially progged 2 days ago and even a day ago. Models are in catch up mode to the obs.

Must be some interesting conditions along I-94...just west of BIS is taking a good clocking right now.
