It was a crazy afternoon down there between Brownwood and Waco. There had to have been some outlandish rainfall totals as well.

The good news is the water sheds for the Austin area lakes benefited from those rains. Another active week ahead for parts of the Lone Star State while we in SE TX are dry as a bone.:(

By Day 10, Euro has 500 mb low in Gulf close enough 850 mb flow is from Northeast- we'd be on subsident side of said feature at that time, so rain not mondo likely, but at least the SETX death cap would be going away, and if we could see a Day 11 or 12, we might be under a 500 mb low with deep Easterly flow.

Caveat- Euro has been lame, at best, this Spring, and its 10 days out, then even more extrapolation...

It could be a wild afternoon and evening for those of us who live N of the metroplex:

image1.gif

15Z RUC, 9 hour forecast, a cell near DFW, LCL a little high, not insurmountable, and an energy helicity index a rather juicy "7".

Of course, the OKC EHI of "14" is just unreal...

Central and parts of SE TX may see storms today with some dry line activity. Temps look to soar and break the cap across northern areas of SE TX. CLL and IAH may see record temps ahead of the boundary. Next week looks to offer a pattern change with a bonafide easterly flow and a chance of summertime seabreeze induced storms for Coastal TX...hopefully...

Houston area not going to reach convective temperatures suggested by the CRP sounding (below). The showers around Brenham suggest some hope.

IAH 14 gusting to 21 suggests sea breeze won't be a factor, and any boundaries from last night will probably get washed out in the face of those kind of winds.

Dryline currently out in the Hill Country. HOU area will need something from above to weaken the cap, probably. Glass half full, maybe I see something subtle on water vapor crossing the Sierra Madre now. NAM doesn't see that, but has a lobe of the upper low West of Kansas City swing down close enough for some isolated action in SE Texas by 4 pm.
