White areas are precip lol Yes you are correct. Precip maps are the easy ones to read It's H5 etc that gives people issues (including me with all those crazy looking yellow-orange swirls). I'm not saying that all of it is bashing (this is also in reply to jack_frost's recent posts). Here's some examples of what I would consider bashing more so than proper analysis and verification: DT is only as good as the models as most mets and hobbyists are There is really no reason to have mets anymore. The models rule and as the models flip so will the mets. Basically the models dictate what the mets will forecast when you come down to it, that idiot JB was the person to light a fire under this one as being a big deal it ain't over, but honestly, there never was anything special about this threat that JB tried to make it ****ALERT ALERT****everything i say (DT) turns to carp film at 11:00 The first two are from Ji, so those I could care less about, but like I said before, if people are reading this stuff they may think it's true and/or jump on the bandwagon. Thanks I was hoping someone would say "you're crazy, that screams potential"....the worst part about this winter is going from major snow to no snow in such a short time on the models... The trends certainly aren't good, but it's not like this would be the first time that the models have lost a storm around now. If you're referring to the bashing LWX got from the last event it was more than warranted. 5am no salt trucks on road and accidents everywhere including a 24y/o losing her life. LWX forecasted nothing and we had close to 4in from the MORNING. Totally blew the 2nd part of event as well. One of their worst performances I can remember. All NWS forecasts and verifications are freely available to the public (or at least they should be... anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) since it is a public department. They continually do internal verifications, so I believe they would be able to give verification info. to anyone by request. EDIT: Now I'm really getting OT. Sorry for that. But at the same time I don't think there is much other guidance of value after d1 or d2 to pay as much attention to. In retrospect I too found the HPC comment on inland humorous if for no other reason everything went the opposite way right after. But I know where they were coming from.
