I finally cracked 32 from about 12 to 1 AM Yesterday.... Today it is 32 ..... So I found that pretty impressive to get from January 1 -> February 6 without cracking it.

Now the question is when will 40 be seen again....

This will be interesting to track next week....

Last occurrences of temperature greater than or equal to 50F:

BOS: Jan 2nd

ORH: Jan 1st (hasn't hit 40F since Jan 2nd)

PVD: Jan 2nd

BDL: Jan 1st

who said that?

It's the overall feeling. People get spoiled, and then the first mild period in February and everyone is saying how they saw Robins today, and the Petunias are coming up. Next week may have some mild days too, but that doesn't mean we have the chances for a couple of Miller B's.

Another possibility we may have is alternating cold/warm. In other words, I could see a Miller B, then perhaps a warm up a couple of days later, and then a cool down with another storm chance. Just another scenario.

Well heres some pre torch pics...hopefully we can add a little more on before any torch next week...we've actually come off our max snow depth as many already know, it was a few inches higher on Thursday, but this was up at winter hill just an hour or so ago:

Nice Will. That ZR the other night really helped you guys I think.

Yeah no doubt...it rotted at 30-31F with ZR for nearly the entire event which basically produced a bit of a protective crust on the snow that "stole" away some of the melting power of those 36-37F temps the next day....they had to waste time melting the ice on top rather than the snow itself. Also helps only making it to 36-37 in the first place vs 40s.

Its those types of days where the differences can start adding up over time.

The white picket fence in the front is totally covered except a piece of Christmas decoration sticking out of the snow...and the bushes can't be seen at all.

Most of the roof snow on both sides of the street there is torched surprisingly. Still 2 feet or so on much of my roof..though it's mostly shaded until mid afternoon for an hour or so

Its a steeply pitched roof if you notice. It never holds snow...it falls off. Most of the roofs int he neighbordhood are steeply pitched.

Yeah but he is exposed on a hill..lol. That's why I wanted to know what direction the front of the house faced. If it's west, that's impressive. Overnight mins have sucked here, in the city.

I wonder why I have been one of the cooler spots, today.....strange.

High was 40.2 and am currently 33.8\31.

Wx bug atop the middle school is 38.3\29, so there maybe a bit of an inversion.

Probably a nice cold layer near the ground. Your sensor must only be about 3 or 4' above the snow.
