Organizing Low
with temps hovering around an even freezing the past few days, we've gotten a lot of compaction since all of our snowpack was pure fluff / low LE since we have been dependent on being fringed by events or northern stream snows. Just had a wasp crawling on the window. Confused obviously and probably burrowed into the window somewhere but
HoarfrostHubb
We saw a mosquito looking thing flying around yesterday as we were sledding in the backyard... Logan11
I finally cracked 32 from about 12 to 1 AM Yesterday.... Today it is 32 ..... So I found that pretty impressive to get from January 1 -> February 6 without cracking it. Now the question is when will 40 be seen again.... This will be interesting to track next week.... Last occurrences of temperature greater than or equal to 50F: BOS: Jan 2nd ORH: Jan 1st (hasn't hit 40F since Jan 2nd) PVD: Jan 2nd BDL: Jan 1st

Last occurrences of temperature greater than or equal to 50F: BOS: Jan 2nd ORH: Jan 1st (hasn't hit 40F since Jan 2nd) PVD: Jan 2nd BDL: Jan 1st Odd that PVD only hit 44F while I pegged a 51F during the storm. CoastalWx
who said that? It's the overall feeling. People get spoiled, and then the first mild period in February and everyone is saying how they saw Robins today, and the Petunias are coming up. Next week may have some mild days too, but that doesn't mean we have the chances for a couple of Miller B's. Another possibility we may have is alternating cold/warm. In other words, I could see a Miller B, then perhaps a warm up a couple of days later, and then a cool down with another storm chance. Just another scenario. ORH_wxman
Well heres some pre torch pics...hopefully we can add a little more on before any torch next week...we've actually come off our max snow depth as many already know, it was a few inches higher on Thursday, but this was up at winter hill just an hour or so ago:

ORH_wxman
Nice Will. That ZR the other night really helped you guys I think. Yeah no doubt...it rotted at 30-31F with ZR for nearly the entire event which basically produced a bit of a protective crust on the snow that "stole" away some of the melting power of those 36-37F temps the next day....they had to waste time melting the ice on top rather than the snow itself. Also helps only making it to 36-37 in the first place vs 40s. Its those types of days where the differences can start adding up over time. The white picket fence in the front is totally covered except a piece of Christmas decoration sticking out of the snow...and the bushes can't be seen at all. Damage In Tolland
Will, what direction does your house face in that pic?? Most of the roof snow on both sides of the street there is torched surprisingly. mitchnick
strange how the pattern this year for you folks changed within a few days of when it changed for us last year of course, I would think it would come back for you to some extent as winter went mia for us after 2/

Most of the roofs int he neighbordhood are steeply pitched.
