Harry
prepare for a Hoosier December 24th 2002 comment coming in t minus......... I recall you warning me about the possible bust with that. Remember back then i lived just up the road in Mt Vernon. Bust or not i was happy as officially it was still my first white Christmas i had seen. If i recall we got a bit from the backside of it after the crap/dry slot. Well up where i was did.

buckeye
In terms of a last minute mileage shift, today's event has to rank up there pretty closely. but trust me, in terms of heartbreak or ranking on a 'give a sh/\t scale'....NO comparison. This was expected to be a scrappy system here to begin with. '02 was supposed to be a Xmas Eve snowstorm with nearly a foot.

snowstormcanuck
Light snow began about twenty minutes ago. It's really starting to pick up. Looked out the window two minutes ago and it was a light dust falling. Now, it's moderate snows flakes getting bigger! Now just starting to pick up here. We've got a dusting. Thankfully the rest of that winter more then made up for that fail.
Powerball
I will admit though, out of all the busts/dry slots/warm tongues you guys in Ohio have had, I really don't feel sorry for you all after the March 2008 Blizzard and the Valentine's Day 2007 storm. Really, while we've been doing better up this way with nickel & dimes, the lacking of a storm like the two I just listed is still leaves much to be desired. I thought the Groundhog Day storm would suppliment that (And it did for the Quad Cities-Chicago-Grand Rapis-Saginaw corrdor) but it fell short here. on_wx
Now just starting to pick up here. We've got a dusting. Hopefully you'll get to see what I'm seeing. Light flakes into heavy snow in just minutes. Looks like at least 1"/hr right now. Possibly more.
Indystorm
Had a meeting in Mishawaka today and just got back to Elkhart where I have a new inch and a half of snow. Sharp western cutoff. Bright blue skies and sunshine here now.
jbcmh81
i hear ya, but about a week later then you. My interest is still piqued about the coming week. After that bring on the torch baby!! I don't expect that the pattern that's been producing nothing but misses all winter is going to suddenly switch gears and nail us before a real pattern change sets in within the next 10 days or so. Just not going to happen. If I was on the EC or up in the Lakes, I'd be feeling pretty good, though. We'll probably end the season around normal, and that's actually pretty good considering just how many ways we've been screwed. My 1962-63 analog was pretty good, actually. Constant cold but no big snow events and only slightly above normal snowfall. It's been like that, only a few degrees warmer.

Valentine's Day 2007 was 6" of snow followed by slop and rain that compacted and melted part of it. It wasn't that special here. It's been better the last 5 or 6 years as far as snowfalls, but that can be said for everywhere. I still think we live in an awful location for good winter weather, probably the worst place at 40N anywhere in the country.

Today's event was actually a different animal then we've seen. It just did the last minute nw trend jump. The chicago blizzard was never really progged to get us inside of 144 hrs. I think people who got screwed the worst in that storm were the ones that were expecting heavy snow inside 48 hrs and ended up with a sleet storm The icestorm ended up being a bit of a surprise....albeit an icestorm. We'll see what happens mon-tues and later in the week..... i'm still interested but admit my desire to have a snowstorm vs seeing the first 70 degree day is beginning to switch in favor of the latter with each passing day. jbcmh81
March 08. Whole winter sucked until that storm. We still have sunday and monday and then Thursday/Friday so still time to get at least one 6 incher. No, it didn't. We had a nice clipper in December of 07, had a few small events in January, more in February with a particular incident of thundersnow, and were running near normal before that storm hit. And considering the extreme rarity of that event, I'm not even going to entertain the thought that we'll have anything like that again within the next 25 years or more. Yea until you see that model showing a 12" snowstorm, then I am sure you go back to being a fullblown snow weenie. LOL. Aside that i dont post here in the summer, because typically the weather is boring in OH any time but winter, and winter isnt that great lol.. We may not see another 20" snowfall in the next 20 years(I think we will) but we could most definitely have a worse storm. The winds never really done much in 08 and the impact of the storm wasnt very great. I remember schools didnt even close down in Fredericktown. 2 hour delay that monday was all. So the impacts of 08 wasnt that bad at all. PD2 had worse impacts imo.
