Trust me--the Grand Forks "weatherhole" is 20 times worse than the LAF screwzone.

My friend wrote this up for fun.

One of my other friends actually did a study on the GFK "weather hole" for her Senior Project. No kidding.

We've actually kinda lost our "getting screwed over" title here in the past 4 or so winters. It has moved east to OKK according to KokomoWx.

j/k Jim. :P

Latest HRRR completed run.

 5-6" of snow beginning 8 hours after the forecast still called for Partly Sunny. If this verifies, it will EASILY be the biggest bust, good or bad, I have ever experienced. So far the biggest nowcast bust was Jan 8, 2005 when forecast the night before called for 1" of snow and we ended up getting 5.9". Next place would be March 23, 1997 when the forecast the day before was sunny and we ended up with 3" of snow.

Good thing this thing didn't have another 12 hours to strengthen more. At this point, I think the call for LAF needs to be bumped to 3-5". Chuck'em. :weenie: :weenie: :weenie:

DTX stated that dendritic growth was good. So Im thinking we may REALLY see some bust high amounts. They went a conservative 2-4" but if its true about dendritic growth, then say you get 15-1 ratios, then 0.40" qpf yields 6" of snow!

Wow that is certainly good news for up this way. Music to my ears.

Snow depth is a very packed 11" now (water content 1.5"), so by this evening should be seeing best snow depth since January 1999 if we get the lastest amounts the models spit out! Could be approaching 15-18" by this evening!
