moneypitmike
I'd say you want to be in that at least 8 miles. Lol. What's your take Scott--are we condemned to rn here for a time? How long do you think that'll be before any transitioning to freezing/frozen/sn on the back side?
Quincy
look downstream. RUC is coming in colder and even keeps southern portions of the "CWA" near or below freezing through 21z. -SN being reported at CDW 24F

If not, seems like an early arrival.
MaineJayhawk
Wow, this is incredible. You can see the line where it stays more snow in the redish/orange color. I am just in that by about 7 miles, phew.. I could use a 30 mile shift south, which is not out of the realm of possibilities. Now-casting event here. I wish this wasn't largely an overnight affair. These storm threads are a lot more fun when SNE is heavily involved. lol

We need some good messenger/kevin/ray/sott/will back and forth with some Gix/miser adding background support. Meanwihle, looks like a good net gain for you. CoastalWx
Lol. What's your take Scott--are we condemned to rn here for a time? How long do you think that'll be before any transitioning to freezing/frozen/sn on the back side? Looks like a little sn/ip at first (especially if you can in on this first batch), but quickly going to ZR. Maybe a little snow at 06z on. Perhaps an inch or two?? mahk_webstah
May be tough for you to get a net gain too. maybe not a net gain, but a toughened up snow pack with a crust for monday night. GYX seems more enthusiastic about Monday night than HPC which doesn't even have us in a prob for 4+. I will actually be watching this quite closely today as I have an 8:10 am flight from Logan tomorrow. That means hitting the road at 5:15 under normal conditions, will plan for 4:30 and hope the ice isn't bad. GYX doesn't think we get above frzg at the surface. It does feel like the bubble has been burst though. I wonder if in 7 days it really has been?

dendrite
yeah no good. i haven't looked up your way - still expecting snow or no? Some. Maybe 1-2", then ZR, and then up to 1" on top. If we keep a strong ageo NE flow I may get quite a bit of icing. I can't believe how quickly this all went to hell. Thu night I started fearing I was going to get fringed on the NW. moneypitmike
Looks like ALY is hedging toward wagon's north. WITH THE ARRIVAL OF THE 06Z DATA...POTENTIAL FOR THE DRY SLOT INTO TONIGHT FOR PORTIONS OF THE CATSKILLS...MID HUDSON VALLEY...NW CT AND PERHAPS NOW INTO SOUTHERN VT. THIS TOO SUPPORTS THE NOTION OF MORE WARMER AIR ADVECTING INTO AT LEAST THE SOUTHERN 1/2 OF THE CWA. THIS WOULD SHIFT THE FZRA POTENTIAL A LITTLE FURTHER NORTH WITH STILL ACCUMULATING SNOWFALL FOR THE DACKS. QUESTION IS FOR SOUTHERN VT IF THIS WARMER AIR ADVECTS IN BUT OVER-RUNS THE SHALLOW COLD AIR IN PLACE FOR MORE ICING. A LITTLE MORE CONFIDENCE THAT ICING IS DIMINISHING FOR THE MID HUDSON VALLEY AND NW CT. AT THIS TIME...WE WILL LEAVE HEADLINES IN PLACE.

You should have let me know--we could have gotten coffee at the Shelburne Coffee Roaster. We topped off at 31.2 here at the Pit. It is really nice up there. Car thermometer read 36 or so in the late afternoon. Terrible!! I normally take 91 to 9 in Brattleboro but this is quicker I think. mattb65
Column must be really dry around here because the composite radar shows 25-30 dbz over my head but the base is just crapping out as it moves into mass. Expecting a torching gutter clearing heavy rain on the CP.
