I was just up on winter hill and still a solid 33-34" up there...stuff is like concrete. I posted the pics of it in my torch thread. Hopefully its not a repeat of before and after like the Jan 2008 disaster (I posted the disaster Jan '08 pic as reference)

Just about down to what I peaked at.

Pete...what we are suggesting isn't that unreasonable....so we go 3 weeks without a 10"+ event....I'm just about positive that we get at least one more in March.

What's this we sh*t? I was talking about Kev's no storms for 10 days assertion. I guess you agree. Nothing unreasonable. I just don't think this Winter is just going to let us skip along for 10 days or more without lashing out at us one way or another. I don't think a persistent zonal flow will set up. I think we'll end up colder with storm chances, perhaps not a monster KU but I believe Winter will keep taking swipes at us and will find new and unexpected ways of doing it. That's all.

Well... you are getting a storm tmw, so that obviously doesn't apply to you, but if the cp misses out tmw, then they prob are going 10 days withou tmuch of anything.

you guys have all that slop and LE in your snowpack.....gonna take a real torch and a 40s heavy rain/ fog to cause serious damage, like i had to suffer through in jan 08 (torch against which all torches are measured  ) ....after all its still early feb, not early march. ....

i had a lot of compaction this weekend despite 7 inches of snow on saturday, because my entire snowpack was taint-free fluff.

thats why im anxious to get back in the freezer despite my temp never getting above 33.....at least i got the compaction out of the way i guess.

Theres about 25" OTG here...down from about 32" at the peak. There is a noticable reduction in snowbanks around town, so they must've been out destroying them because you aren't risking your life at intersections now, which is good I guess.

 Hmmmmm....epic looking snow banks, or life.......life, I guess....

They done a lot of work on the snow banks here on the main roads...I noticed W Boyalston St is much easier to see around and some monster snow mounds are gone...they dug them up the last couple days and trucked them to some snow dump.

Yeah, before today I didn't really feel safe pulling out...couldn't see more then 10 feet either way. Ive heard of 2 accidents in the past few days from pulling out of my school and that's just at my school and in the past few days.

33 Years ago right about now, we were just starting to dig out from one the greatest eastcoast storms since 1888. The Blizzard of 1978 February 6-7. By daylight tomorrow morning would we be only able to comprehend what mother nature had done to us.:snowman:

I remember that! It started late afternoon and 2nd shift people had their engines smoothered trying to get home from work at 11pm. We made it about 100 yds. from our house with our '76 Scout and then had to struggle home. Two days later, the first plows came through and we went and dug out the Scout and it's engine, pulled the plugs/dried them and it fired up.

City of Rutland shut down all traffic and G.E. Aircraft where we worked actually closed for 3 continuous shifts! First and last time so far. The City asked for snowmobile help to transport Drs./nurses and EMS.

Imagine that storm happening now, with our current snowpack in place...epic disaster. :snowman:
