In the hills of the northern Lehigh Valley @ 700' ... expecting about 2" from this event. This winter season, the largest snowfall here was 4.5". The yearly total is 37". Still 5" short of normal. Wee bit of a snow hole itby this year, as far as a large snowfall from an individual storm. Overall, this season seemed to be a windy cold winter. The memorable part was the lack of a warm up, or January thaw.

The next few weeks may bring a couple surprises, as a stormy chilly pattern has set up Snowman.gif.. The elevations usually get more action this time of year. Monday morning was a bit of a surprise with 1.7" here. That groundhog went back into the hole, after he popped up six weeks ago ... that little stinker sun.gif. Ya'll up in the POCS look sweet with this event. I wouldn't be surprised if the winner gets 8 to 11" of the wet white type.

Stay safe to all of our local weather enthusiasts.

nws bing going with 9 inches in wilkes-barre on the latest map on their website. I dont think wilkes-barre will see more than 4.

Bing going with 8.9" here.. I am thinking more on the line of 3-7" but the 0z GFS has 1.25-1.50 of QPF right over NE PA, all of us. Could be a bigger storm then I think right now.

36 F here DP 28, Light snow with light sleet mixed in here in Nazareth, PA, Northern Northampton County

Here too ... its snowing at 12:30 am, deck is wet, temp 35.8. Hmmm maybe the 2" I am expecting will be light. Right now the radar appears pretty solid back through Pa, up across lake Erie into Ontario.

only got about 3.5" here at my house and it's hard to measure bc of rain and sleet that packed it down some.

Pretty big bust of the models and the NWS.

Friend of mine in northern Passaic whom I told 2-4 with perhaps 6 if everything went "right" only had a coating so far. We'll just have to see what the Ohio Valley convection can do later on.

This morning:

Winter Weather Advisory

Statement as of 7:57 AM EDT on March 23, 2011

...Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am EDT

Thursday...

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am EDT

Thursday.

* Locations...Warren and Morris counties in New Jersey... and

Lehigh and Northampton counties in Pennsylvania.

* Hazard types...snow and sleet.

* Accumulations...3 to 5 inches of snow.

* Timing...snow and sleet will occur this morning and continue

through tonight...before tapering off Thursday morning. Some

rain may mix with the snow during the late morning and

afternoon.

* Impacts...the morning commute will be degraded by a wintry mix

of snow sleet and some rain. Precipitation will change to snow

at times when the precipitation becomes heavier. The snow and

sleet may have a difficult time accumulating in the middle of

the day...but snow and sleet accumulations should increase

again toward the evening commute...with totals reaching

between 3 and 7 inches. The greatest impacts will be in the

highest elevations...as well as on untreated and secondary

roads.

* Winds...northeast 10 to 15 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.

* Temperatures...in the mid 30s.

* Visibilities...one half to one mile at times... especially

this morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or

freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for

slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while

driving.

Lunchtime:
