ChrisM
OT: But did you all see the Winter Storm Warnings all the way from the very southern tip of Texas - litterally brownsville texas extending almost the entire gulf coast to new orleans then winter weather advisories into the panhandle of florida. What a CRAZY winter. Brownsville Texas! I think their criteria is for 1 flake of snow in the air they're calling for up to half an inch of ice + down there...yikes. Right on the Mexico border lol
met_fan
No way Saturday. They tried that in '96. They'll just take away April vacation. There were definitely schools that went on Saturdays in '

CoastalWx
rain down here? A lot of CT is warm aloft. Maybe a mix to snow over nw ct. Anyways, it's the SREFs in the extended so take it FWIW. The globals were colder for the interior.

CoastalWx
I know, it's just you know what really would start hitting the fan around here even with just a few tenths of an inch of rain I'm expecting to take a hit here, but maybe it trends a little colder, or I flip to snow. Next week looks interesting as of now.
Clinch Leatherwood
Locked dendrite structures FTW. I just cannot belies schools haven't been called off yet! Roads slick but not too bad here. As far as the weekend goes split moisture pattern on most models, fast mover and a changeover to white. Probably will see model gymnastics as nam is developing the low under the western shield others split the difference

Chrisrotary12
I have never seen Brownsville TX under a Winter Storm Warning. That is incredible. Anyone know what the criteria for a Winter Storm warning is down there? And with regards to this weekends storm, I am hoping to squeeze another 6" out anything extra would be gravy. Here is the language of the warning http://forecast.weat...r+Storm+Warning A WINTER STORM WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN DANGEROUS WINTER WEATHER ISIMMINENT. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF AT LEAST ONE INCH ON ROADS OR WALKWAYS...AT LEAST ONE HALF INCH OF SLEET ACCUMULATION...OR ICE ACCRETION OF ONE EIGHTH INCH OR MORE ON EXPOSED SURFACES. HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS WILL RESULT. PERSONS WITH TRAVEL PLANS IN THE WARNING AREA ARE STRONGLY ENCOURAGED TO POSTPONE THEM UNTIL CONDITIONS IMPROVE. Clinch Leatherwood
Here is the language of the warning http://forecast.weat...r+Storm+Warning I've got friends in the Army..air defense type stuff stationed in El Paso. Got an email from them early am about the temperature being near 0. Just checked...sure enough 1.9 degrees! YIKES is that cold for the Mexican border. On the flip side if the Rio Grande freezes it'll be an easier commute for many. NAM advertising the split shield...one s/w complex comes up off the Carolinas well in advance. That should drive the surface low.

Clinch Leatherwood
what a torch the nam is. LOL yes it is. BUT I do think it's actually "trending" colder...notice it's trying now to develop the low out by where the other models have it and has bumped the Bahamas warmth east under that contour? Tropopause_Fold
the only place in SNE that isn't plain rain is Pete on the 12z NAM...and it's just a ip/zr mix for him. that's a remarkable difference in available products at basically just over 48 hours out.
