This run is a clear 1-3C colder at 850 for ORH and points N - that's pretty significant with a 1.00" qpf wall in the area. It's also cooler for you guys, too. One thing this one won't have is issues between 850 and 700 mb - not that type of system with both mid lvl centers cutting underneath.

Juan..wouldn't you agree with this being more of an elevation event at least until it bombs?

Yeah this looks like it could be a pretty decent snow event for central and northern New England...could certainly see a solid 6-10'' in this area if everything works out. It certainly was a good thing to see the 18z NAM go towards the GFS. I still think this way we could end up with a solid 4-8'' event but this will really dependent on how cold we actually get and whether or not we see some mixing.

3-6 first and only call the other day (for ct)

Good to see the town out today doing an extensive snow assault on the snowbanks. It was getting annoying having to pull out in the middle of the road to see oncoming traffic, and having to stop to let others by on sidestreets. Continual snow pack since 12/26, a very special winter indeed on the ct coast.

snow depth 19", and its gone glacial since the ZR .

Not really actually Kev' - it appears we are near freezing over snow pack... And besides, it is likely to cloud over and cap Friday night proficient enough radiational cooling. I bet - just looking at the synoptic appeal of this 18z NAM solution, and considering the Euro looks snowy - that it starts as snow and stays that way from HFD-PVD-BOS, only to collapse SE as the event concludes.

Whooosh?????

no... I understand certain folks love/hate relationship with the models. All good. It snows where it wants to snow and all that...

Interesting posts about the maple sugaring issue folks might have. Even have that happen before? And does this type of winter effect the production by the trees? Or is it all about what happens in the spring?

Nice..I think a general 4-8 or 5-10 for all of interior SNE and maybe 3-6 for farther east

It's all about mild days and freezing nights.

I'm no expert but I went up to a farm that boils down syrup and they said that it mostly depends on the temps in the spring. You don't want it to torch too early and cause the leaves to shoot out before you collect enough of the tree syrup. So a steady gradual spring is ideal I think. You also don't want it to shoot way warm then sharply ice shortly after the leaves are out cause that'll wreck the tree.

Last year in VT, the farmer said that it shot straight to 80s then we had a crash in temps and it really screwed up the maples at higher elevations.
